The whole security thing is a complete farce, I was allowed to take a bottle of water through security in Egypt last week, it was open and well over 100ml. They never looked at my laptop neither whereas on the way out they wanted the laptop out of the case and no liquid allowed, does the plane not blow up if it's flying back to the UK:rolleyes:

I walked through security at Calgary airport last month with a whole 500ml bottle of water in my hand. They were all too busy holding up a man who had a broken leg while he tried to get his shoe back on!

What I acutally meant was I dont see there being much difference between the damage I could do with either of them.

I guess the difference in the minds of the powers that be is the potential for making a weapon. If you strip down a Bic Razor, you get two tiny strips of steel with blades on, but if you slide a couple of razor blades up a flat cocktail stirrer, you have a handy weapon. :)

Further to this, does anyone know if you can take an epilator in hand luggage? I assume you can't even take a normal set of tweezers, let alone an item consisting of many. But just wondering if anyone knows for sure?

what the hell is the difference between a "fully disposable razor" and a non fully disposable razor

That, definitely, would be a non-fully-disposable razor:

I always take my Tweezers, no problems at all.

Does an epilator have sharp bits?

Logic tells me that fully disposable razors are the Bic kind.... You throw the whole razor away. Non fully disposable razors being the Mach 3 variety where you throw only the head away and more importantly, the old style razors that used real razor blades. :)

i hate to be a pedant (well, i don't, but go with it) but that razor is fully disposable. in fact, most things are fully disposable. all you need is the thing and a bin or the thing and a bit of landfill...

As an update, I took both my pointy tweezers and some disposable razors for my OH, and had no problems at all.

For my last flight (Exeter-Edinburgh return) I asked the airport authorities. I telephoned Exeter airport, and they said that razors were absolutely forbidden in hand luggage. I checked the Edinburgh airport website, which made it absolutely clear that these were not allowed.

Well, Heathrow didn't mind me taking them to Edinburgh in my hand luggage, nor bringing them back
