am going away for the weekend and only taking hand luggage.
can my OH take his fusion razor in hand luggage (or any other disposable razors)?
don't want to pack it if it's going to get confiscated.

Ive just copied this from the birmingham airport website
Passengers are reminded that luggage carried onto the aircraft is subject to certain controls and should NOT contain items that are pointed or sharp. Furthermore, restrictions exist on the carriage of liquids. If prohibited items are identified by security they may be confiscated and subsequently destroyed.
I wouldn't take them0 -
Just found this from BAA (from 2006 when security was far higher) which says fully disposable razors are okay

I fly quite a lot with hand baggage only from/to various airports - never had a problem with razors, even when the security staff have taken them out of my wash bag to check them (so knew they were there) I've been allowed through no issue.0

Blimey well i never etc etc, what the hell is the difference between a "fully disposable razor" and a non fully disposable razor

Im sure that Macgyver or the a-team could make a bomb out of either of them, mind you if anyone recently saw the documentary about airport security and the nonsense of the 100ml rule a razor blade would be the last of your worries. I work around an airport and there are serious security holes but alas its all about fiinding the balance of security and functionability of the airport. However I still insist that one day I will hide in the boot of one of our cars and when we go through a security checkpoint I will jump out with a fake beard on and a tea towl on my head shouting taliban and see what reaction I get.

Logic tells me that fully disposable razors are the Bic kind.... You throw the whole razor away. Non fully disposable razors being the Mach 3 variety where you throw only the head away and more importantly, the old style razors that used real razor blades.

What I acutally meant was I dont see there being much difference between the damage I could do with either of them.

I've taken a razor (not fully disposable, Mach 3 type) through airport security a couple of times with no problems.
This reminded me of a couple of times when I've been watching the x-ray operators in Spanish airports. The x-ray machine randomly inserts images of guns and knives every so often, presumably to make sure the operator is still alive and conscious. The weapons disappear when the operator clicks on them. I don't know if this is done in UK airports - I haven't seen any evidence of it.Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
On a rotating plate, with spikes like Flash Gordon
And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning0 -
Yup they have the same test images, its always good fun when I go into the airside area as im allowed to carry a leatherman and despite being there for several years people still get twitchy, of course the ultimate is when we seize some guns. swords etc and have to put them through baa's xrays.

Perhaps you could take a cheap disposable, then if it is not allowed it would not be as bad as losing a fusion. Having said that the cheap kind don't suit some people with sensitive skin.0
