    Hi
I just thought of something do I need to send the letter by Recorded Delivery to Aktiv Kapital? Should I sign it I thought I read somewhere not to sign it just in case they forge my signature?
    Many thanks in advance

ALWAYS use a 'signed for' service, such as recorded delivery, for any letter that you send to a DCA - especially one of the 'ilk' of Aktiv Kapital'.

Best advice is to either 'print' your name, or sign 'electronically' as it has been know for 'signatures' to be scanned and copied into dubious 'agreements'.

If you MUST sign a letter (only legally required for a Subject Access Request) then put a couple of 'X's through it, or sign on a dotted background, so that it can not easily be scanned and 'copied'.

  • Hi All, Ive had several letters from ak over the past 6 months, they were forwarded from my old address. They dont have my new address and Im not sure whether to get in touch with them. My debt is from about 5 and a half years ago, but I thought it had been all paid off and what they say I owe is £200. What should I do?
    Thanks all.
  • Hi
Can anyone help i have this morning recieved a letter from Aktiv Kapital saying they wish to contact me about a personal matter, should i simply ignore the letter or contact them.
I have an agreement with a debt collection agency (for want of a better word), which i have been paying promptly for several years this is the only debt i can think of, any advice would be greatly recieved.

This is standard AK talk for 'Phone us so that we can scare the !!!!!! out of you and get you to admit to a 'debt' that is probably non-existant or, at best, unenforceable, and reach for your debit card before you've had time to seek advice'.

Do NOT phone them. If what they wish to 'talk to you about' is so important, they can put it in a letter.

I too recieved the same letter today. I called and left a message on the answering machine simply saying I had been advised they were trying to contact me and leaving my mobile number.

I have no idea what debt they think i have.

When, as they inevitably will, they call your mobile, they should ask you to confirm certain details, e.g. your date of birth, before they discuss any 'debt' with you.

I strongly urge you to refuse to answer any such question and to tell them to put anything they wish to discuss with you in writing only.

Except I don't wish to give them my address - which is why I was "advised" that they were trying to contact me... ;)

    Letter reads:
    Dear Mr Rabbit80

Do we have the right address?

We are trying to contact Mr Rabbit80 regarding a personal matter and we have been provided with this address as a possible address.

    What to do next?
    • If you are the person named above please contact our office.
    • If you are not the person named above or the person is no longer resident at this address. Please accept our apologies for contacting you.
    • Should you have any information on where our customer may now live, we would welcome a call from you so that we may update our records.
    Thank you for your help.

    Yours Sincerely,

    Aktiv Kapital (UK) Limited

    Letter reads:

They are obviously just "fishing", so I would just ignore it for now.

Any type of contact just encourages these idiots.
