No McAfee always scores poorly in tests, we forced to use it (full version) at work and it regularly fails to stop a large number of viruses.
There are MUCH better/more reliable free offerings out there.0 -
I was never impressed (at work ) with Sophos either/ maybe the new version is better/BLOODBATH IN THE EVENING THEN? OR PERHAPS THE AFTERNOON? OR THE MORNING? OH, FORGET THIS MALARKEY!

We used to have Sophos at work which worked well, but then they decided we all had to go over to McAfee which seems to slow everything down to a crawl. Of course we used to be able to use Sophos at home too due to their licensing agreement.0 -

I can't get rid of Avast!, the thing won't go away.........it is remorseless..........I've tried the windows 'remove', from the software listing through Control Panel, I get 'bonged' and it doesn't go?! I thought I'd done it some time ago but always there's the pop-up error message followed by the large 'you are not protected', guff to get you back!
I need help, I've been to the Avast site and they have a removal tool that you have to use Windows safe mode to work........now where do you find windows safe mode, and would it work?0 -
To get into windows safe mode - reboot and keep pressing F8
And yes, I cant see any reason why it wouldnt work:idea:0 -
Why bother with all these anti - malware programs? Why not just install a free Linux based Operating System (which has only 3 or 4 unresolved threats to it in the wild) on your machine and do a weekly system wide on demand scan with a free Linux based anti malware program (e.g. Avast,AVG, Bitdefender). That should give a reasonable level of protection to Microsoft users whom you e mail.0
