I've used Doyouspain but it depends what hire company they give you as to whether you get the full-full option. As already pointed out Record do full-full, Auriga don't, Sol Mar do, Centauro don't.

If they offer you a car with a company that doesn't do full-full, just email them and ask for one that does.

Full-to-full is just one way of charging for the car. As noted in these posts, there are operators who operate full-to-full and there are those that operate full-to empty. Most times, FTF will be more expensive the FTE.

There are also those that have FULLY inclusive insurance and those that include an 'excess'. There are those that charge extra for wheels and tyres insurance and those that charge extra for wheels, tyres and GLASS cover. Some of these charges are per day and some are for the whole duration of the hire.

Some charge extra for extra drivers, some include them in the rate. Some charge extra for child seats, some offer them as a freebie.

Some require a deposit for the emergency pack (triangles/bulbs/jackets, etc), some automatically have them in the car.

There are those that have on-airport offices and those that have off-airport premises.

Full-to-full is only one part of the cost equation.

    just booked with Record.
Got the confirmation email through and it says:
    Fuel Prices:
Fuel prices are between 42€ for basic cars and 72€ for the highest categories. These rates are subject to modifications.
The vehicle is provided with a full tank at pick up and has to be returned empty. The price for the fuel in the vehicle is paid upon arrival.

Ive just been stung by a hire company charging me full to empty from alicante airport.

I booked through rentspain, I have used them before and last time I got a car supplied through centurauto, who let me bring it back full with no fuel charge.

This time I got a car through a company called 'diesel car', who said that I had to bring it back empty, saying that this was a policy forced on them by rent spain, which I knew wasnt the case becuase of my previous rental.

Anyway, as I had only used about half a tank, I filled it up on return, and he signed my paperwork to say that the car had been returned full, and he said I would get a refund. Will have to wait and see if the refund turns up.

The Full to Empty policy is just a complete rip off, and the hire companied know it. Even if you do bring the car back empty, they are making a nice profit on the fuel, and as most cars will come back with some fuel in, they are also making a fortune on that.
They are taking advantage of the fact that you are on holiday, and will just want to get away from the airport and to the hotel, without having to argue over fuel.

not sure if this is valid with Record anymore, their website states

"Please note that you have to return the vehicle with the same level of fuel as you received it as we do not do business with fuel. If you return the tank half full, please return the vehicle with the tank half full."

Presumably you read the T&Cs when you completed your booking?

So how have you been 'stung'?

I've used Diesel Car there many times and found them to be an excellent supplier. If they do decide to refund you, please come back and let us know.

Just been comparing quotes from Avis & Auto-Europe. The former gives me a discount through AA but still works out about £20 more for a week in Spain. Still they operate a FtF. Then when you compare T&C, for Spain Avis have tons of insurance add ons, CDA, theft protection, etc plus a large deposit, where as A-E seem to have zero excess on small/medium cars. I know these are optional, but it all depends on how much driving you expect to do - when using it as a self-driver transfer service I probably wouldn't, but I'm probably going to be doing 500km+ in the week.

I wasn't given any T&Cs, or a link to anywhere where I could view them. I have been stung because I have a confirmed booking from rent spain with one price on, and have been charged a far higher amount by Diesel car.
I have also been stung beause Diesel car have charged me for more fuel than it would be possible to fit into the tank of the car I was given.

I thought I'd leave this a while before checking to see if you did get a refund from Diesel Car for the fuel.

Having posted here of your problem, it would have been helpful if you had come back and let others know of the result.

As I understood your point, the 'far higher amount' you were charged was for the fuel. If Rent Spain did not include that in their T&Cs, you have a gripe with them, not Diesel Car.

When I have checked, the charge made by these hirers is usually based on the current pump price, plus €15 to €20 for the labour to refuel the vehicle.

In total, compared with the full-to-full hirers, the actual hiring cost is usually €15 to €20 cheaper! So, the difference is down to the fuel you leave in the car if you don't return it empty.
