try www.economycarhire.com used these loads of time in spain never let us down yet. You can pick which car hire company you want and look at the terms and conditions. it seems to be now that firms are changing to taking your car back full. we always seem to pick sol-mar and we get better deals than if you book direct. Hope its of use0

After being screwed so many times with the "economy" car hire firms throughout Europe, I only ever use Avis or Hertz. They are rarely that much more expensive and we are happy to pay more for peace of mind. Almost every time we have used an economy car hire company, we've had a problem - we've had break downs, the full/empty fuel con, filthy cars, even police problems due to faulty cars. The worst was when we were stung several hundred pounds for "damage" to the car, even though we had done no damage and handed the car over to the firm's rep in the airport car park unscathed. We couldn't prove it wasn's damaged, so the credit card company sided with them instead of us!
Compare that with Avis or Hertz - generally shorter queues at their desks, their cars are usually parked closer in the car park to their desks, immaculate new cars, usually with a good map included. We often get upgraded to a better car with Avis or Hertz - never once been upgraded with an economy firm.
My experience is that it has been false economy to use the cheapest - they'll get you in the end.0 -
Anybody have any advice of where someone under 21 might be able to hire a car from? Pick-up/drop-off at Malaga airport.0

oh no...still not booked. Happily understand the petrol issue now but am totally bewildered by the seemingly incredibly high excess some companies charge - one seemed to be the first £2000!!! :eek: :eek:
So...any one got a good story to tell about a company who has totally fully comp ins, no excess and pref allows two drivers???
pretty please?

i have just had this back from doyouspain.com
Collection Information:
============================================================
Please, collect your car from the AURIGA CROWN RENT A CAR office which is located in Girona Airport Arrivals Hall.

All cars are provided with a full tank of fuel and should be returned empty. On arrival you will be asked to prepay the full tank of fuel so please return the vehicle as empty as possible as Auriga are not able to refund money for unused fuel. If the rental is for 3 days you may ask the representative to offer full/full fuelling against your credit card deposit. Payment needs to be made by a CREDIT CARD such as Visa or MasterCard by the main driver. Thank you.0 -
I've just checked Auto Europe after an above post talked about their Full/Full policy.
They seem to have changed to :
* Fuel , client is charged for a full tank at time of pick up and is advised to return the vehicle as empty as possible as there is no refund for unused fuel. Exception: Rentals 3 days or less, client may choose FULL/FULL option, in which case vehicle must be returned full otherwise a locally determined fee will apply.
This was for a two week holiday pickup at Gibraltar Airport for a Ford Fusion 1400cc.
Carjet also came out 20 pounds cheaper than them, so I will probably book Carjet.
Does anyone know how much a full tank for a Ford Fusion 1400cc is?
Thanks!
