???Call 18866 - Is this a good, cheap service???

I would like feedback on the service provided by Call18866.co.uk from anyone please.
Is it all it cracks up to be, and are the calls as cheap as they say?  A bit worried that if I want to cancel, they have my credit card details, and no-one to contact except on line!
Thanks. Lin

  • Lin - Generally agreed on here by users who have used them for months that they are excellent. As for price at 1p connection fee then free calls for UK calls 24/7 - think you'll find it hard to beat.
As to your CC details - I wouldn't worry - there are several threads on here asking when 18866 take payment. This is because they leave it till there's a reasonable amount to collect.

Lin, I too would endorse all that Allthatmalarky has said. Being a bit paranoid I tend to look at my on-line account frequently, simply to see if it is as it should be............and it is.

    I've saved loads using them.
I also check my account regularly to check everything is ok.
I pay for my parents and my brothers calls as well and its still works out a lot cheaper.
Go on give them a try :)

I wish they had a CPS service. They rock. Only once have I got an engaged tone (1886601 beep beep).

At then end of the day what have you got to loose by signing up? I think they bill after about £2 so you could get 199 free uk calls and then decide ;)

I used to get confused with the engaged tone after dialling a 18866 prefixed number - until I realised that if the number that you are dialling is engaged, you automatically get an engaged tone! So sometimes, at least, it's not really the 18866 network that's engaged. :)

That depends on when the beeps start. In reality their are two type of beep, two flat tones or two tones raising in note. IIRC the latter means trunk congestion, but it's a pretty good giveaway if it starts after the 16886601

I think 18866 is brilliant. So good how long will it last. Used for 3 months, call costs reduced by more than 90%+. Use in conjunction with http://www.saynoto0870.com/search.php . Sky, singlepoint  etc, not nearly 8p/min peak but 1p TOTAL for 5minutes or 2 hours.  1899 to landline USA,  1/2p per min anytime, 3p connection. Fantastic. :):):) Thanks Martin.
ps, anybody to whom I speak about it , is unable to believe it. ::) ::)

Call costs are almost nil - great idea.
*** Beware using for 0845 & 0870 numbers they are more expensive than using BT for some reason at 4p and 9p / min.

Had some calls with bad line quality which I beleive is due to using 18866, after a calling back the line is usually better, minor nusiance for FREE UK calls 24x7.
  • what is like to call mobiles compared with BT or using a mobile to make a call?
You can't get itemised calls on line to check how much your calls are costing, or at least, I haven't managed to get an itemised bill.
    Otherwise excellent so far
