I have become an Anorak !!

Or rather a fleece !! Since retiring I now seem to spend my time wrapped in warm sweaters and fleeces in an attempt to economise on heating costs I wonder what happened to the person who used to dress smartly every day when going to work. Only seem to wear suits for weddings and funerals now.

I know that feeling, especially when you are not going out anywhere and there are chores to do, its not worth putting on good clothes... and its so easy to pull on t-shirt and trackie bottoms... trouble is the good clothes don't get worn often and then they are either out of fashion or they no longer fit nicely :rotfl: IFYKWIM..

I so agree. I'm sitting here in trackie bottoms covered in paint as I've been doing a bit of decorating. The problem is the track bottoms are so comfortable that when you go to wear your "good" clothes, they feel uncomfortable (or have I just put on weight?).

as a geezer, I find that warm jogging bottoms are comfortable for lounging about. Sweatshirts with collars for the top half. No problems with belt & braces or creases, just total comfort.

Half a dozen suites hand motionless in covers waiting for that special occasion.

I know one thing, if I were to wear a shirt & tie and look half presentable with jacket and slacks, "they" would stand and stare and I would think I was back in the 50's.

Oh, I do make an effort when we go out, I raise my titfer to passing layabouts!

Yes - been there for the " suddenly all your good clothes don't fit any more" thing. It must be all those mid morning cuppas and biscuits that we now feel entitled to treat ourselves to. Maybe I should force myself to wear some formal clothes one day a month - just for a reality weight check . It's horrible how that kind of weight increase creeps up on you when you get into the habic of wearing your "comfortable" clothes all the time.

If we all lived in the same area we could have a tea-meet where you have to turn in clothes other than your 'anorak' clothes just to prove to each other that our 'posh' clothes still fit... :rotfl:

No, No, No. I absolutely refuse to go down this path. Every morning, I do my make-up and put on my 'work' clothes. The only day I don't is Sunday - I know this is stupid since I'm now retired, so there's no logical difference between Sundays and weekdays. But I do put on my cardis instead of turning the heating up.

I so wish I could be bothered to make that sort of effort but I live out in the country and some days I don't see a soul (bar some cows and sheep) till the family get home in the evening. Dressing up to do the housework just seems too much like hard work. I do get "tidied up" if I am going shopping etc.

When I left work one of my goals was not to be ar*ed about attire

As a bloke I have never worried about fashion or suchlike, now I can and do please myself as to what I wear, no need for ties or suchlike, & do I care what others think I should wear? No!

This is all well and good but I think my OH takes it too far. His gardening pants have worn so thin on the knees they are almost in holes. And he refuses to let me bin them! If I refuse to launder them he would probably wear them anyway.
