Unlike previous hard drives I'm having aproblem my XP PC found new hardware but I still can't see the HDDrive - what do you mean when you say "mount via terminal line"?

Someone please help! It looks a great drive but I can't use it :( I can see the card drives but not the HD?

If I ever get it working thanks to OP and any hints on what I need to do

    Cheers

Hi, I've got one of these waiting for me at a neighbours house i think - but to answer your question it sounds like you need to try formatting the disc inside the drive as per what another poster has written. Try going to Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management -> Disk Management -> Right click on the new hard drive and click format for whatever file system you want, I'd recommend NTFS.

HTH, let us know if not.

Hi, I had to format mine:
    Control panel - classic view
    Administrative tools
    Computer management
Disk Management - in the left hand window
This should show the Disks, including CD/DVD drives

If you see an apprently unformatted drive lower down the display
You can point to it and select format - with care hate to zap an active partition.

I am running Linux, unless you are a developer for microsoft you won't get a terminal comand line.

PS the on off switch is in the middle of the back of the drive, took me a while to find it as I didn't read the instructions as they were for windows. My PC couldn't see the drive either till i did this.

I had an email two days ago to say that the drive would be dispatched within five days and it arrived this morning. It's well built, smaller and quieter than I expected and looks awesome next to my black-cased PC.

I'm not as happy with the lack of communication for more than a week after ordering it and ATMT not playing ball with the Amazon Marketplace rules. Having lots of orders is no excuse for not dispatching the item within two days. I'm tempted to speak to Amazon and see if anything can be done to hurry up ATMT for people ordering products in the future.

Just to let you know the size of your bargain purchases, Ebuyer not known for high prices has just put it in its offers email at £69.99.

    http://www.ebuyer.com/product/144563

I got the £19.99 320gig Wednesday, a day after the delay apology email.

Thanks again to OP for pointing out this firm on Amazon.

Live Wrong seems like you are living up to your username.

Give them a bit of slack or you will likely have to pay the Ebuyer price in future

Could it be they ran out of stock? because of the volume of orders and rather than cancel your order to "follow the Amazon Rules?". They made an effort to get more stock from China, but could not give a delivery date till those arrived.
I suspect the delay was forced on them and as the price has since gone up that they had to pay more for yours than those originally in stock first time around.

So you have been lucky to even get one, please return a bit of their goodwill.
