500GB media tank £39.99 +p&p NOW £49.99 +p&p

Just came across this on Amazon merchants. This ATMT media tank normally retails at over £100 now reduced to £39.99 + p&p which I think is a bargain even if you only use it as an external harddrive.

    Through one box, the ATMT Media Tank brings a double upgrade to your computer system: a DVD-writer and a 500GB external hard drive. Ideal solution for the family PC, or the Home Office/Small Office workers. Back up all your data any way you like: save on the hard disk drive, burn on DVD, copy to memory card or USB memory stick. A brilliant data storage solution compatible with Windows Vista/XP/ME/2000/98/98SE and Mac OS 9.x or later.

    I ordered one too. Bit of a risk I think but I needed to buy a new external drive anyway and was about to cough up a lot more than that so figured it was worth a punt.

    I thought credit cards only provided extra security for purchases over £100?

    :confused:
  • are you certain it actually comes with the HD and dvd writer? Just curious, as I know some non-amazon-direct things mislead on their description - and the box certainly mentions nothing about having HD and writer preinstalled - so it could just be a front bezel for the writer. Also the other site advertises it as supporting up to 750gb HDs etc and not saying anything about what comes in.

    If it does indeed come with the HD and writer it is a v good bargain, but I'm bit suspicious that its misworded...so yas might have to be chasing it up when get it delivered
  • compare it with this one

    def seems too good to be true - being amazon orig prob sold it at a set price till out of stock, but market place sellers prob just slapped their price on for the shells. It is tempting to try mind....wonder where it stands if once they send you an empty shell if they're obligated to complete the order with whats advertised. Though would probably use the No Longer In Stock getout

    Just noticed on that one it says "1 Some memory card may require external power supply" - I'd have thought the whole bleedin lot would have needed a powersupply and not a memory card :-S

    I think that means there are 2 traders selling them. I can't see where it says this company has only two in stock. But it wouldn't surprise me if you are right!

    i've bought one too. One reassuring thing was this;
    "We're writing to confirm your purchase of the following item from seller

    ATMT being the manufacturer - that can only be a good thing right!?
