It's a fair question IMO. I am new to MSE and I know what a troll is, I find it strange that someone who claims to be a regular doesn't.
HEY What the hell is a troll????
I have no idea??????
i feel im missing out on something here or being insulted because I don't know lol so !!!!!! is it then?? Is it not a fairy tail charactor from Lord Of The Rings??Current Debt : FEB 2010 - £10,000, OCT 2010 - £5,000 :jCompetitions Won : ->:rotfl: HAHA Don't be silly Been Comping for 2 years! Make a list of important things to do today. At the top, put 'eat chocolate'. Now, you'll get at least one thing done today.

Not everyone on MSE would know what a troll is...AFAIK 'they' tend to hang about in the Arms and pop up in any general or contraversial discussions where they fancy stirring things up. Or they start threads designed to stir and cause trouble.
MSEers using the site for pure moneysaving would quite possibly not have stumbled across a troll post at all. I know what one is but I have rarely seen them in 2 years on here as I don't often look in the Arms Discussion threads.
Best of luck flowerclipper. Use your coupons in Tesco from now on though!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

A smug looking girl refused all my manufacturers coupons at tesco yesterday. She said there were new rules, and that apart from one coupon per visit, the items must be purchased
How pleased was i then, when i pointed out that i HAD bought all the items. I promptly pulled out a voucher for £2.50 (bic clic), and said i will use this aswell then. So far from scuppering my purchase, she helped me get another £2.50 off .
Thankfully, i have always bought the items at Tesco, and therefore was not embarrassed by this incident. I don't buy the items at Sainsbury, as they don't seem to care. But at tesco i buy the item, although i may change it a little ie hovis bread may not be the exact loaf specified, or i get a different dolmio sauce etc.
Anyway, now i know i can use one voucher without buying the item, i will be printing off many of the high value coupons, which are usually for items i would never buy.0 -

As usual, I reckon, it still varies from store to store as to what their policy is. One per purchase, 10%, as many as you like, think of a number times by 10 and take away the first number you thought of.... etc., etc.!
I used 3 on a £10 shop last night, giving me £4.80 off and hadn't bought any of the items.0 -
Hi all, I can't remember why I started reading this thread but I got hooked on the thrown in jail for a coupon line. What a farce but I'm well aware with how pathetic the law is in the UK and can very well believe someone being arrested for using a coupon. I understand when you drill down in to it you can see big loop holes and big potential to abuse it and that's why the police get called in.
But personally I really think this story needs to be given to the BBC or other news network to highlight yet more bad practice by the supermarkets. I don't want to get in to a anti supermarket rant and most people here will know I'm not a great fan of big corporations. But it's my belief that the till staff and the stupid new fangled computer tills should reject invalid coupons. The online stores can do that so why can't the tills?
I've learned a lot in this thread. I never knew you could use coupons without buying the product. I never knew you could use coupons from other stores at other stores. I never knew you could be arrested for it LOL!
Duder give my best wishes to flowerclipper when you next speak. I had my reservations about the story and to how honest she was with the coupons but I still don't think it's right for that to happen to her.
CarolynH I post on here every so often, I've been online since the days before the internet when we used to BBS and ADSL and real pictures were nothing but a pipedream. I only found out what a troll was in the last few months. People keep coming up with new terms and I can't keep up with them. We used to call trolls flamers not so long ago. Don't judge someone for their knowledge0 -

Update - I wrote to Sainsbury's asking for help and as yet I haven't heard anything from them (just nice email saying they had got my email and were looking into it) but today at 2pm I had a phone call postponing my visit to the station (5pm) for another month. So not sorted yet but I was all geared up for the proper arrest today and it's nice not to have to go! Have printed so much info for the CPS about companies abusing coupons. Would certainly get the ISP involved if it went to court.0

Anyone know if such a delay is usual - is it an indication of good news?
