[Am have curry and rice for dinner with DS and DD and wondered if someone could confirm if I can 'reheat' the spare rice so DH can have it when he gets home. Thanks
Sure I read about it somewhere that it was alright as long as I leave it to cool down but would just like to make sure. Don't want to poison my DH especially not when it is my birthday tomorrow]
Yep - it's fine - I often do it and no-one in this house has been poisoned yet. I also cook rice and leave it in the fridge to do (egg) fried rice with - much easier to work with chilled rice when frying than warm - doesn't go sticky & gloopy in the wok:D
You can either bung the rice in boiling water or nuke it in the micro - I tend to go for the nuking option, as it's quicker & the rice doesn't get wet/ overcook

Hiya, was gonna make chickpea and potato curry this week (originally posted by Shaz_mum_of_2 on MSE), but it calls for curry paste, which we never use....I have loads of curry powders and dried chillies, etc (some of which brought back from Sri Lanka)
So instead of using 4 tablespoons of curry paste as this recipe calls for, how much curry powder should I use or does anyone have a curry paste recipe
Thanks

We don't get the Sun newspaper usually and when OH went to get one it was sold out. Luckily mum gets the paper and as she does not shop at Morrison's she sent them to me. Will have to see if she would like them back if Mr T's accepting them as they are pensioners.January spend = £100

EDITED TO ADD: Total for May £248.180 -
can't believe this is the first chance i've had to get on here today to read up on all the posts!!
i've just come on to update my siggy....had to get toilet rolls ( we go through ONE a day, and there's only 3 of us!!! Flippin DD17 goes thru it like i don't know what!!), also tissues, and some more milk from Mr S so i can get the vouchers used before Fri!
i'm determined to have a baking day tomorrow, cos i've just taken 2 boxes of mince out of the freezer, so i'm gonna make a load of spag bol and mince/onion to go back in the freezer, so that there are some 'ready' meals in there
i also want to make another yogurt cake, as the last one got eaten before it even had chance to cool!! plus i think we need some more twinks making, according to DS14!
hope you're all having a great day, and (((hugs))) to all those that need them xx0 -
281273 - good luck for your hospital trip xx
Well, so far this month i've spent £314.38 on groceries which is considerably lower than usual. I'd like to join again for June and try for £300.
Just think...we used to spend about £500 a month so if I can get it down to £300 i'll be saving £2400 a year!!!! That's totally mad! xx0 -
hi, I'm new (came from mumsnet) but desparately need to cut down now the price of everything is going up. I'm going to cut down gradually so I'm aiming for £360 for June (2 adults, 1 teen - eats like a horse, one child - special diet and fussy eater, 1 dog, 2 cats a gerbil and a hamster. Ooof. Have dug out the breadmaker and made a flat loaf, yipee! With Sparkles! :happylove And Shiny Things!0

I have a breadmaker shoved in a cuboard somewhere, i can't be doing with it at all. I can get 4 x 2lb loaves done much faster, than it takes my breadmaker to produce 1 with a hole in the bottom
.
I agree - I have one stuck in a cupboard in the kitchen but never use it as I prefere to use a full bag at a time.
Yesterdays bake was 2 loaves, 3 pizza bases and a tray of chelsea buns - you can't do that with a BM, not enough dough;)0
