Just realised I bought a 12 tray of dog food instead of catfood on friday,my DD used a can this morning even though 'I thought that was odd!' does anyone know if it could harm my cats? I did read somewhere that dogs and cats need different amounts of protein and not sure which way round it was-don't want to damage their kidneys! Perhaps it's safer to buy more food and use on alternate days? (they get through a can a day between them.) Can't afford to waste it!
No you shouldnt give cats dog food. Cats have very explicit nutritional needs, including taurine, and dog food simply does not contain the sorts of ingredients needed by cats to meet those needs.
Maybe it's worth trying to take it back to swap it for cat food - I know you've opened it already but maybe worth a go?

Kiwi.. I reckon this thread could be renamed " i only need fresh F+V".... it seems to be the favourite saying of lots of us ... but it doesn't seem to stop many of us from buying extras does it :rotfl:
I know how dare these shops keep having BOGOFFS and 1/2 price offers on the things I buy :rotfl: I now have enough toiletries, rice, pasta and flour inc bread flour to last our family 6 months and enough storecupboard bits and fish and meat in the freezer for at least a month and still I spend  I blame it entirely on them you know :rotfl:MFiT Member No 85

Yes cat food and dog food are rather different nutritionaly. Cat food has more protein. If no luck with a return(as its a multipack they may refuse)how about donating it to an animal rescue or something?
Mrs M We are going to grow lettuces in growbags. I alsorefused to pay £1.25 for a lettuce so off to the garden shop and now have bought some more seeds. Lettuces, radishes and spring onions-I think they will be grown in big buckets. we have a big garden but its totally unsuatable soil and get devastated by snails and wild animals on occassion. It will be so much easier growing in the conservatory. Good luck with yours.
My budget gone so well this month that Im going to reduce mine to £280 for June so £70 per week. Hopefully I can reduce it again in July.Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults0 -
So my question is,how do I know how much budget to set? I have no idea how much I usually spend-scared to know!-
Another question-I have quorn bits and chicken-breast style fillets in freezer I need to use up-what on earth do folks do with them? It seemed like a good idea to buy them at the time and they weren't cheap so first challenge is to use them up!
As far as the grocery budget goes you first need to decide what you are going to include. I had no idea a all also when I started,as with fast rising prices, my previous notions had gone out of the window!
There are 5 of us-youngest is 14 and I started at £75 pw for food only. Found this is more than enough since joining this list(I was spending approx £86 per w) and I will be reducing it for June. So thats £15 per person per week. Add on quite a bit more though if you are thinking of your total supermarket shop.
I think Id suggest £75 for you also-bearing in mind your greedy cats. Cut it down accordingly next month. The most important bit is the diary! This is where it really hits home and educates you as to where your money is going. Armed with your diary-the rest will soon sort itself out. Good luck! This group is truly an inspiration.:jAnnual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults0 -
SusiQ if it doesnt say 'multipack' on any of the tins, i'd take them all out of the packaging, and take them back to a supermarket, and ask to exchange them. i've done this before ssshh!! when my dogs didn't like the type of dog food i'd bought. i just said my OH had picked up the wrong ones, and just rolled my eyes and muttered "men...hmmphh!!" .......and i don't even HAVE an OH!!!! :rotfl:0

I'm feeling really pleased with myself this month and so far we have only managed to spend £196.84. That means there is £53.00 left for the last week in May:j Although next month I really must not spend as much as £82.00 on any extras..:eek:Mortgage Free as of 20.9.17Declutter challenge 2023, 2024 🏅 🏅⭐️⭐️

Well another dreadful month!!! I am so over budget:mad:
I have spent £332.71 this month. It is getting really hard especially with the prices still going up. I have still got to go until the end of the week but I hope not to need more than some milk and a bit of F&V.
I have just ordered my first lot of next months shopping from Mr T to find out that 6 pints of milk are now £2.12, it has gone up from £1.96 (I think). . I will declare at the end of the week my final total. Good luck to everyone who still has some of this month to go. Well done to those of you who are within budget.
I will have a smaller budget for June as we are away for the last 2 weeks:j :j :j :jDebt Oct 2006 £42,215.21 at highest. Debt Today £0.000 -
I have just updated my sig to include spends over the past few days. I've gone over this month but this has included takeawaya due to have no kitchen and I am already starting to restock after running supplies down. My month fends on friday.
I used a £5 sun voucher in Mr M today, unbudgetted but I had to use itso I stocked up on rice, pasta, yoghurts which were on offer. I already had ths weeks meals planned with everything in so most of todays shop will be used next month.
I still have another 4 vouchers to use over the next 4 weeks, but June has 5 weekends so I think will leave the budget at £150.
Edited to add - I managed to pick up Bero S/R flour for 29p a bag at B&M - not sure it these are nationwide.0 -
Hi everyone,
I forgot to post in my last message that I had driven past Tesco the other day on my way to my mums.
They had a big banner at the main drive entrance that said they
"accept morrisons get £5 off £30 spend vouchers"
OH managed to get 2 free vouchers from work. The newspapers were going to be thrown out. So he bought them home for me:D .
MRS MC can you please put me down for £160 for next months challenge.
We have decided to change our challenge dates to using calendar month instead of 4/5 weeks.
So june challenge will be from 30/5 to 30/6.'Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle'0 -
Need to add another £6 onto the GC. DH bought some fruit..... We won't be buying anymore, as we are off to Germany on Tuesday.
I will see you all at the June challenge.
EgonI wish Germany had a website like moneysavingexpert!0
