Ok you sandwhich freezing people, how do you stop them from going soggy once defrosted?
Also, if you buy ham reduced cuz nearly out of date and freeze in sandwhich it will be ok once defrosted even if defrosted for a few hours?
I don't really understand the freezing close to date stuff. I normally defrost and use straight away!
I like the idea of making sandwhiches for the week, would mean I wouldn't forget/run out of time and have to buy something.
Steak at BIL today in return for choc orange buns and some hobnobs!Good deal0 -
BF's sarnies don't seem to go soggy and I only wrap them in foil. I suppose you could try wrapping them in kitchen roll first, that would absorb any excess moisture maybe?
As for the ham question, I don't think it would be problem, we eat stuff a couple of days out of date usually anyway
(one day we'll get caught out!) Obviously, don't freeze salad or tomatoes or stuff like that with your sarnie - that would not be a pretty sight once defrosted!:p:rotfl:

I make a month worth of sandwiches at the beginning of the month, freeze them and then take them out of the freezer each morning. They are defrosted by lunchtime - little monkeys have never complained that they are soggy - I've never suffered sogginess. Each sandwich is frozen in a sandwich bag and stored in the bread bag that the pre-sliced bread came in.
I make ham, chicken and cheese - have tried different fillings in the past but these are the ones that I know my littluns will eat without fail.

I didn't realise you could freeze ham and yoghurt's either - great news!
Do you put your tomatoes, salads stuff, etc. in when you get them out or do you put them in a separate tub or something:o ?
Like Phoolgrrrl i get a bit lost here, as often think I'm not supposed to freeze stuff. It would be great to make up a weeks worth of lunches, as often end up giving DS £3 or something for lunch instead as we often overdo it  ...
PS: Can you freeze pickle and cheese spread sarnies too??? You can get boxes with gel filled lids that you freeze -I freeze the lid it and then hubby sticks it on in the morning -the pasta salad or whatever sits in the fridge covered with film overnight
Or you could freeze a carton of juice and pack it in with your box of pasta in the morning and that should keep it cool and you will have an ice cold drink to boot-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50
