The sprays you can get for window cleaning are good for disolving dried inkjet ink.0

Hi Jeanna,
I think most people have stopped stocking cleaning cartridges now, I have just had a quick look and couldn't see any readily available. If you have got loads of dosh you could buy the Epson originals, they include a cleaning solution in the cartridge, but it sounds as if your heads are so blocked you may be wasting your money. For future reference, if you buy another epson printer I would suggest that you run a set of original cartridges through occasionally which clean and lubricate the heads. You can get a set from http://www.stinkyinkshop.co.uk/acatalog/Stylus_ink_CX3200.html0 -
cheepnis the cartridges are ok.
thanks for your reply smileyjohn. so a new printer then.
totalsolutions is there a laser printer you would recommend.0 -
Jeanna, Hi - have a look at the Brother series. All good value for money.
My first quite a few years ago was almost £2K for 4 pages/min. Now my latest after the several printers form the Epsom and HP stables, is another Brother. Cheaper than the firat one and much, much, faster also has a copier, scanner and OCR software and a full toner cart. inc.0 -
Because of the way epson printers work, they must be used regularly (at least once a fortnight, using all colours) to keep the heads from blocking. On the plus side, for the price nothing equals them...0

thanks totalsolutions but i only want one for printing documents, bookings, directions and vouchers at home so i want one as cheap as possible but the thought of not spending a fortune on ink appeals. are laser alot better than inkjet and does it work out cheaper in the long run.sorry for all the questions but i don't know much about these things.0

Epson used to use durabrite inks -everyone wants their prints to come out dry straight away so the inks were made like custard! The trouble is that if you don't use the printer every day the ink starts to dry where it shouldn't -instant clogs.
I have no experience of brother but I have heard good and bad.
I use a canon printer with cli-8 ink cartridges which are very easy to refill- it's an ip5300 but you could prob get a 4500? for 50+quid.
It's the ammonia in the window cleaning stuff that is supposed to clear blocks - well it's your time you are wasting -I've wasted my time going there.
Here's a link which you should check out http://www.nifty-stuff.com/forum/
Hope this helps.0 -
