Well, it's cheap and out of stock.. Do you need to print everything in colour and then thrown away? I prefer b/w laser for high speed and quality prints at a throw away price. Colour prints can be brought at tesco for 7p each.

You can run away with inkjet costs running into hundreds of pounds over the life of the original cost of a printer. At the price if it goes wrong you buy another and another... it's your money, but really think what you want to do with the output.

Constantly amazed by the £2 printer...
    All-in-one with cartridges = £27
    New cartridges = £25

If the cartridges are just caked - a quick wipe with a wet piece of kitchen roll does the trick for me.
If they are empty and the printer still works - try some compatible cartridges @ about £15.
I have had some success with those messy refill kits - but if they've already dried up, forget it.

Set the printer default to GREYSCALE as some will use colour anyway with B&W..!

    Hope this helps

Don't buy the HP printer, the cartridges are one colour with about 5ml of ink in it - that is divided into three different colours. You can see the sort of prices you will pay here at HP 21 Ink. Stick with Epson because you will generally be able to get hold of compatible cartridges for them.

Tesco Homebase stores had Epson printers at about £29.99 over the weekend, but please don't buy the HP!

Not good - but before I'd buy another printer...
I would test the new cartridges by rubbing them along a wet rag.
I'd expect 3 lines of ink from the colour and probably 2 from the black.
If they are ok, I'd use electrical contact cleaner on a swab to clean all the contacts, includng those in the print carriage.
If there's still nothing, maybe then I'd give up.
