Nothing new there then. Your Move have been shutting branches since 2002.

It's probably a bit much to hope Foxtons will fold, but I just hope these lean times make them go back to looking more like an estate agents shop (instead of a wine bar).

I accidentally walked in a Foxtons branch the other day & sat down in the middle of the floor waiting for the rowing boat song to start playing ("I said Oops upside your head, Oops upside your head"), then I realised I wasn't in a 1980s disco after all....oh how we laughed as the medics arrived to sanction me.

Yes, if this quiet market only has one casualty, I hope it's the 'excess' within Estate Agents' premises.

I shall also keep an eye on the notorious Putney road which has about seven estate agents next to each other, including Foxtons.
This Temple to the Estate Agent God is still gloriously intact complete with magnificent 100 yard window display and enviable location which simply must be seen to avoid disappointment ;).

If I were an Estate Agent...

    1. I would have tucked away some money when things were going good (ie during the past 15 years).

    2. I would have been expecting a severe downturn. (else if I wasn't expecting a crunch to come, then I wouldn't have been a very good estate agent - it was madness & couldn't last)

    3. I would have made sure that I'd another trade/profession to fallback on (or take evening classes etc)

.....Or be the blood suckers they are, and rely on the honest tax payers to keep them on benefits.
I used to have a signature but it disappeared and I just couldn't be bothered writing another, so please feel free to ignore this.
