    Jorgan, I'm very sorry.

(I feel especially bad about my quip t'other day now -as jokily as it was meant).

What do you plan now? Good luck, huge amounts of good luck to you.

Also, Alexander James, Wincanton, somerset: closed.

Don't worry, your quote was taken in the you intended. What happened to that thread, it seems to have vanished?

Not sure what I'm going to do next, thought about being a postman, better than walking the streets.

I am also sorry to here your news, I would be devestated if I lost my Job, so I can understand how you must be feeling.

I fear that the future for "high street" Estate Agents is grim. In my opinion at least 50% of them will close, never to re-open when the current crisis is all over.

Good luck in your search for a new job.

Hope you get a new job ASAP.

There have been about 4 closed in Hammersmith, West London in the last few months with one this week on Shepherds Bush Road. That leaves about 20 left. With the huge deposits needed by buyers now I can see transaction levels falling further and more closing shortly.

Good luck to anyone who has lost their job or about too.

In the past year, three estate agents have closed in Sidcup High Street:

    Bairstow Eves
    TG Baynes
    The Property Base

The remaining agents, especially Alan De Maid, Halifax & Village Estates are still valuing property as though it is boom time, so there are few sales completing. These agents have property on their books from a year ago, and not reducing the prices on new valuations.

Update on above. The 4th Closure in Sidcup High Street. Alan De Maid have also now closed down. Only Halifax & Village Estates remain.

I think Halifax & Village Estates may be able to bring some normality to the market in 2009, as it was mainly Bairstow Eves & Countrywide overvaluing the area and distorting the market.
