If you have a Barclays current account, ring this number:

    08456030845

or (geographical number thanks to www.saynoto0870.com)

    01452628991

Option 4 is the savings department, and they will transfer the money instantly for you from your current account into the ISA tax haven.

I've never had a problem with this phone system, in fact I've always been quite impressed.

Thanks, but I don't have a Barclays current account. I am sure that you have to send the money off to their savings dept in leicester or somewhere and the chech made out your name and account number. Just wondered if anyine knew.

I'll have another search on their web site thingee to see if I get any joy

    Cheers anyway

I applied for this account yesterday lunch time online (I'm an existing customer). Got the usual 5 working days, possibly 14 message. Checked online today and it's open with the money transferred.
In my case at least they seem to have got the issue sorted!

    Success at last.

There was a long delay in opening mine. Since I had given instructions on-line for it to be opened by transferring funds from my Barclay's current account, and then scurried round like crazy to get the necessary 3,600 into said account, I was not pleased that it then sat there for ages earning minimal interest.

I complained, and eventually sent another complaint letter. They offered to backdate apart from the 14 days, and I explained that this was unacceptable. I also asked for fifty pounds because of the nuisance and the need for repeated correspondence.

Today (November) I finally got a satisfactory response. They agreed to backdate in full, but cannot do so because I have now transferred my ISA to another provider. So I lose about eight quid. However, they enclosed a cheque for the fifty pounds.

If only they could have got things right first time round.
  • Well done. Voyager2002.

    It pays to persist.

  • This is the second year that Barclays have claimed that I paid money into the wrong tax year and now they want me to reapply because they claim there has been a break in the tax years. I have finally had enough of them so I'm going to a different institution. NEVER AGAIN. Even if they offered me an interest rate of 25%.
  • Everyone I know or have read about who have opened a Barclays Tax Heaven ISA,as had problems.
Barclays reeled in a lot of people in last year with their Heaven ISA due to the top interest rate which included a 1% bonus. But when the crunch came down to it,Barclays could not step up to the mark due to the amount of applications and greed, the were simply overwhelmed .
I personally applied in April and paid £3600,but my ISA did not come through till June, truly unacceptable.I wrote and phone continuously and eventually I got my application backdated a few weeks, unheard of from anyone I know. But that should not have been necessary.
The greed of Barclays have made me learn the hard way,all that glitters is not always gold.
