Barclays Tax Haven ISA: Have you opened one?

I'm in the process of transferring my ISA from Barclays to Natwest at the moment purely because of the CUSTOMER SERVICE I received yesterday. It was absolutely appalling and I was in the branch  The ISA went through OK in April (I think, need to look into it) but after waiting for anyone to notice I was there for 30 minutes was the limit. Thank god I don't actually bank with them!0

There is no notice period, it's an instant access product - see HERE. Just complete the Natwest transfer form and they will arrange the transfer.
Does this mean that you can transfer an ISA over in the same year that you opened it? As I opened my Barclays ISA this financial year but am also thinking of moving it over to the higher Natwest ISA. Although is it worth it if I'm just moving the 'new money' over which is made up of £3000 this year and £1000 last year??
Thanks for any advice given...Current Debt Owed To Family: [STRIKE]£12,575[/STRIKE] £9,000 :wall:Estimated Debt Free... [STRIKE]Dec 2012[/STRIKE] Aug 2012

Hi
I would advise anyone who wants to make Cash deposits to their cash ISA - BEWARE. Their T&C (Article 2.2) states that you can make cash deposits to ANY UK barclays branch. This is not the case. I have been turned away several times by my local branch. i complained to Customer services via email and wanted an explanation as to why their T&C said I could pay in via cash deposit but ONE branch in particular would not accept my money. In fact the branch staff said they were "not prepared" to accept my money!!
After 8 weeks and several emails on my part - I finally received a reply (the grammar and spelling was awful). But it basically said that each branch could at "their discretion" accept cash deposits as they did not have access to information on an individual's ISA. Therefore, they could turn me away.
In this day and age of computerisation, I defy any banking authority NOT to have access to banking records!
I was not looking to pay in large amounts and the attitude of Barclays has disgusted me so much that I am transferring my ISA to NATWEST. I checked with them if I could pay in cash and they said yes, no problem.
Think Barclays could do with assistance in writing their T&C.........
I too await with baited breath as to how long and if there are any mess ups with transferring out of Barclays.......0 -
I have had my Barclays Isa since May, but now need to top it up to the full £3,600........... There is nothing in the paperwork that explains how to do this.
I have also had a quick butchers on their website and can't find anything there either....
I seem to remeber that you can't do this in a branch and a cheque needs to be sent away.
Anyone know who I should make the cheque out to and where to send it?Mortgage and totally Debt Free as of December 2008.
boy does it feel good! Thanks MSE for all the tips and advice0 -
If you have a Barclays current account, ring this number:
08456030845
or (geographical number thanks to www.saynoto0870.com)
01452628991
Option 4 is the savings department, and they will transfer the money instantly for you from your current account into the ISA tax haven.
I've never had a problem with this phone system, in fact I've always been quite impressed.[SIZE=-4]MF date: Dec [STRIKE]2028[/STRIKE] 2019. Overpayments in 2007=£900, 2008=£1200 2009=23400[/SIZE]0 -

I agree... I've always used this number to transfer the money from my current account and its always been dealt with in a quick and efficient way. You just need to go through some basic security (address, phone no, mothers maiden name - that sort of thing) and they'll do it all for you. Easy! :jCurrent Debt Owed To Family: [STRIKE]£12,575[/STRIKE] £9,000 :wall:Estimated Debt Free... [STRIKE]Dec 2012[/STRIKE] Aug 2012

It's far cheaper for them to backdate than enter into a stream of correspondence between you and the Directors (they have much bigger problems to solve). 14 days interest is less than £10.
It works, believe me.
I have to say that it's a shame Martin Lewis couldn't have solved this.
I can't believe we are still laking about 14 days. DO NOT ACCEPT THE 14 DAYS.
Write to the TOP MAN. It's easier to backdate to date of application than keep answering letters. IT WORKS.0
