I wrote and complained 7th May about my ISA

Today I have received the second `we are looking into it` letter but no positive response.

Applied 8 April at the bank and heard nothing until to-day when I had a letter asking me to take my passport into a branch. The FA at Barclays photocopied my passport in April. I rng the no on the letter and got someone with such an impenetratable accent that it was difficult to make sense of anything. Interest should be backdated if it was the bank's fault (Like 2 months is normal!) and she has escalated my complaint.

Is it worth abandoning Barclays altogether and going somewhere else?
if i had known then what i know now

Just to let people know that Barclays had a vast amount of people apply for the Tax Haven ISA tax year 07/08. I was one of them. To cut a long story short Barclays could not cope with all these applications. They said my application was invalid because of missing application details , when there was nothing wrong with it.
I missed out on my investment for 07/08 and made a formal complaint.
Don't be fobbed off by them.Keep chasing them with emails
Nine weeks later they have just sent me a cheque for £220 and an appology. Should I ask for more ?

Quite simply they shouldn't offer products they quite clearly can't cope with demand for. How it can come as I suprise to them I really don't know.

    Hi,

Just let you know I applied for Barclays ISA on Monday 9th. I have just logged onto Barclays Online Banking and the account has been opened. They have already transferred the money I requested from my Barclays current account to the Tax Haven ISA.

I applied for the ISA on 24 April online, having already had a current account with them for 11 years. I quickly received the standard letter about a four week delay. After four weeks were up I complained, then I received another letter telling me my complaint will be dealt with by 20 June. Last week I rang the complaint line and got a useless operator who told me nothing could be done until my complaint was resolved. Today I rang the savings line and was told my ISA could not be opened as my address was marked 'gone away' because post had been returned. This is strange since I moved house 18 months ago, my address is correct and I have since received statements and letters about my ISA application and complaint in the last few weeks. I was told I had to go to my local branch and have the 'gone away' marker removed. I did this today, they rang someone and apparently my account will be opened in 1-2 weeks with backdated interest. I will believe it when I see it.
  • I opened the account on Monday last week and received my welcome pack on Saturday with all the account details and paying in instructions. I then received a letter telling me about the 4 week delay!

    The service in-store was terrible.

I opened the account last week in-branch, Canary Wharf. Received welcome letter. Today I saw my account has been debited with the check I presented. Now I need to find out how to log in online (if possible) and then check if they have credited the money to my account and not to some other's account, as one customer reported here!

    Fingers crossed.

Depression - if you have no beer to drink at all!
I don't see any of the above - so where is it (recession)?
