The Fiddler, what are you planning to invest in? If it's unit trusts and OEICs Hargreaves Lansdown is popular but if it's shares and investment trusts others might be more suitable.
Probably unit trusts or the like, I think they are a little more stable to start building a portfolio with.
I supose then the first thing I need to do is decide what funds - so for my £3.6K I should choose 3 or 4 funds?Noobie (not so

Choose as many as you like! The experts on the forum seem to suggest no fewer than 1 fund per £1000 for the first few thousand, so 4 is probably a good place to start.
