Money in HBOS this morning so at least we know that the transfer from Sains remains the same.
i.e. Next working day if requested before 4pm.

I went to my Halifax account today to make a transfer to Sains.
My original transfer set-up has been removed, that mean`t same day instant transfer of funds, and so I had to create a new one.
The earliest date available to make a transfer is Monday 2nd June,which I would assume will arrive in Sains the following day.
So it now seems the "instant" transfer is now dead.

And HBOS calls that as an improvements!
