Not sure how up to date:
When will my payment be debited?

The payment will be debited from your available balance and current balance once the payment has been sent. Your available balance will not reduce until the payment leaves your account.
For payments instructed before 4pm on a bank working day your current balance and available balance will change one business day later e.g. payment made on Monday at 3pm, current balance will change on Tuesday.
For payments instructed after 4pm on a bank working day your current balance and available balance will change two business days later e.g. payment made on Monday at 9pm, current balance will change on Wednesday.

This means you now have access to all your money/funds right up to the point the payment is sent so you need to ensure you have sufficient funds in your account the day before the payment is sent.

I'm considering BM esaver or KE after this latest drop in rates.
I'd like to know if transfers from BM are quicker as part of HBOS group but haven't found any info.
    KE has rate guarantees.
    Decisions decisions.

    Thanks for that
What I`m concerned about is, I`ve asked for a transfer this morning from Sains.
Before HBOS tinkered with their site, the payment from Sains would arrive by tomorrow.
I`m hoping this is still the case, but to be sure I guess I`ll just have to wait `til tomorrow and check my HBOS account.
I thought I read somewhere that someone was testing this.

I've also been asking this same question, but as yet it seems no-one has tried (it being a DD 'pull' set up?).

However, I suspect that the answer will be that they're not quicker - for two reasons...

    1. HBOS have changed their online interface/mechanism, and

    2. BM tell me their e_Saver sort code starts '20'.

As soon as my £1 validation/activation cheque clears, and I get online access, I'll be trying a HBOS=>BM 'push' and I'll report back.

Not sure whether you saw my post from a week or so ago?:

I've just opened their 1 year fixed rate account rather than the instant access account, but the booklet I've received today is called "Savings & Investments Customer Service Guide" and says:

HOW TO TRANSFER MONEY AND MAKE A PAYMENT

    ELECTRONIC TRANSFER OF MONEY

Funds should go to the following account

    Barclays Bank PLC

    Sort code: 20-97-78

    Account number: 1******0

Reference: (Insert your Birmingham Midshires Savings account number here)

Barclays sort code but part of HBOS? Not looking promising then.

It is a DD 'pull' ... from the linked account. But BM do use Barclays - which seems a bit odd :-

Just set an account up there ... following the latest reduction from Halifax today. Was going to wait until faster payments. But as that looks to be going very incremental ... and the easy access rate disparity between Halifax and 'best buys' has developed into a chasm - decided to wait no more.

You'll probably have to wait a while before you get any of your cash in there Mike.

    It's not a fast process...and that's an understatement!
