HI THere
Not sure if this one is on the thread that PenPen suggested, but i always use the "Feed your family for a fiver" Sainsburys recipe card for salmon fishcakes.
Its really easy too - as i am a fledgeling cook!
You should be able to find it on the Sainsburys web site - if not PM me and i will send you the recipe
Best Wishes

Some time ago I had a recipe I wanted to try for thai fishcakes. All I can remember about the recipe is that it used a small tin of crab in it. I have a small tin of crab in the cupboard (which I prob bought for this recipe) and cant really think of anything exciting and new to do with it so would like to have a go at the fishcakes. Does anyone out there have a recipe that they would care to share with me please??
I tried searching but I'm not very good at itEmma

Very quick, cheap recipe: 1 tin of crab or tuna, 2 slices of bread, 1 egg, 1 desert spoon (more or less depending on how you like it) of thai curry paste and some corriander.
Put it all in the food processor, make into fishcakes and shallow fry for a couple of mins each side.0 -
I'd use the crab, some mased potato, spring onions, coriander and thai curry paste
As this has fallen from the front page of OS, I'll add it to the existing fishcake thread to give you more inspiration.:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -
I'm going to make fishcakes tonight with some tinned fish - 2 quick questions:
1. I'm making the mash fresh tonight for these cakes - I think I have to let it cool before putting it with the fish, right?
2. I have the following tinned fish - salmon, tuna, mackrel - what combo of fish do you guys think would be best together? Last time I made fishcakes I used some leftover white fish, and some tinned mackrel in a tomato sauce - which was rather epic!In a better financial position than ever before (thank you MSE!). Moved back to Scotland and now trying to keep debt-free!0 -
Maggie bob - have you decided and made them already? Ive never made fishcakes (not into fish really) but if I did, i would look up and follow Delias method here - which uses tinned salmon and warm potatoes!
let us know how you get on

Oooh I love this thread. Saw it earlier and now have 3 fishcakes chilling in the fridge ready to cook, and 4 more in the freezer for another time. It really does stretch a long way, I thought I was doing enough just for me for dinner tonight but it made 7 averaged sized cakes.
I used - 2 smallish potatoes, chopped and boiled for mash, a small 54g tin of tuna, 2 chopped spring onions, a few cuttings from my chive plant chopped up, with some mixed herbs, a little salt and lots of black pepper. Mashed it all together, and used floured fingers to turn them into little cakes. Rather delicate to handle for now but I'm sure they will firm up in the fridge.0
