I have frozen after cooking on several occasions, because I had cooked too much. Not this particular recipe, but standard home made fish cakes. I reheated them in the oven on a baking sheet, and they were just fine."Remember that many of the things you have now you could once only dream of" - Epicurus0

Take a look at this thread - freezing fishcakes. I'll add this thread to that one later to keep all ideas together.

My minds gone blank, can I ask what you would serve with fishcakes? I would say baked beans but mine have had them twice this week.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0

I serve them with salad with some sweet chilli sauce drizzled over. Sometimes with stir fried veg. Whatever's available really.
I'd never heard of doing them without breadcrumbs before, may try it next time as the whole egg thing is a bit of a faff.odi et amo0 -
I am sure this must have been asked loads of times before, but I am not very good at searching through posts
I have leftover mash from last night, a large tin of wild pink salmon, some capers, egg and bread.
How can I turn this into fishcakes, and is there anything else I need?
Thanks0 -
Hi clareski,
There's an earlier thread with lots of recipes that should help so I've added your post to it to keep the replies together.

Well I have mixed the mash, salmon and some chopped capers together and made them into 'cakes', and dipped into some flour. They are now chilling in the fridge.
Is it best to cook them in the oven, as I dont think they are firm enough to shallow fry?0 -

I usually cook them in the oven but if you want to shallow fry them, you'll be surprised at how they 'firm up' after being in the fridge. Just use a fish slice to turn them very gently.

I haven't made these for years but am going to have a go next week
I also make a lovely tuna fish pie , all it is is white sauce , some lightly fried mushrooms, and a tin of tuna , mix together , top with pastry and cook
can't remember how long for though again I haven't made it for ages but plan to do it again in the not too distant future0
