The new job allows us to break even only - that means the basic mortgage bills and debts (minimum payments) get paid. This doesn't allow for food and petrol, so we need to rely still on the student lodgers we have each year to pay for that.
Overpayments/kids sport/any chance of getting a cleaner etc have to be funded by "extra stuff" OH still has his second job, although while he is recovering from his op this is not obviously paying him much as he is not doing the extra shifts.
I just seem to have been going round and round in circles, and not being able to see the wood from the trees. At the moment I am very very tired, but see that as not being too much of a problem. However, if that tiredness turns into something whereby I can't cope with something, then I will have a problem and it is this that I am trying to get an advanced peek of, and to realise that I have to do something about it before it takes a hold!!
One day, I will be debt free, and can just enjoy life!! Roll on that date!!!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Hypno - some thing has to give at some point and it will be your health. I'm a case in point - 2 days off work in 8 years and then ...wham.... 6 weeks off earlier this year. I've given up my course i was doing - never enough time to get the unit done and an assignment that i've had two extensions for already.
Think about you in this instance - if you are ill ................................. need i say more0 -
I know it makes sense.....I am just not used to quitting :rolleyes:Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0

Thanks guys!! I *know* that this is the way it has to be - I just want to be debt free as soon as possible!! I have already given up the bar job, and it just feels as though I am letting go of all those things that *should* be helping, but somehow aren't! (if that makes sense!)
Anyway, I am trying to sort out the other ways of saving money - I have discovered that I can buy a monthly pass for the bus at £41 which is a lot cheaper than taking the car and paying for parking. The bus times are reasonable, although not perfect, and I have worked out that the monthly pass is equal to the fare for 4 days a week. So if I get the bus 5 days a week then I am saving money, and if I only use it 4 days a week I am sure I am still saving money because I will have NO need to take money out of the cash machine to use for daily fares, which often gets spent on other things like coffee and "extras" for lunch, meaning I have to go back and get more money that I cannot afford, out of the bank.
So, one task for this week is to get a bus pass sorted........Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -

OK - what are your priorities? Having a balanced home/work life and becoming debt free - right? So ditching the study isn't contributing to either of those things right now and isn't needed for the future. You are not quitting - you are making a sensible decision. I am not sure how much you already have done but you should be able to get some kind of credit for that - even if not a named award. Take it and run. If things change you can go back to it but I doubt you will need to to be honest.
Re. the Karate admin - how many hours is it taking you to "earn" that £31? Sounds like a lot to me - 3 hours? 4 hours? Even before you take account of the stress on you which will impact on your health and your work. You can make up that money in other ways - as was said - it is one or two matched bets or perhaps you could do some more head massages in that slot which will bring in money and relax you?
To reach your ultimate goals your new job needs to be a priority - you need energy for that not to be exhausted all the time or ill. For what it's worth I think these are really well thought out and sensible ideas for change - and I would go ahead and do them.0 -

Notice that none of these plans include the desire to tackle my ironing pile or tidy my bedroom......... I still want someone else to do that all for me :rotfl:
Ah well, baby steps!!!
Now, I am going to bed before I fall asleep - this working lark is all too much :rotfl:Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Anyway to cut the old budget a bit? It's temporary so it's okay. Plus, once you've been in a job for a bit, you might be able to lower the APRs on some of the debts. No longer using this account for new posts from 20130

Don't we all! If I could afford it I would have a cleaner and a gardener and send out the ironing to be done. (As it is I live in chaos, have 3 ft high grass and weeds and go around looking slightly crumpled - ah well!)
As I think you admitted yourself - you are not superwoman (close but not quite!) so give yourself a break!!
