XP "it lives beyond the grave"

Thankfully XP is set to survive. See bbc story LINK.
"HP is also using the "downgrade" option to keep selling XP with some models until 30 July 2009.
In all these cases a PC is logged as a Vista sale and, in effect, is being sold with an unused option to upgrade to the newer operating system."

"Microsoft has extended the life of Windows XP Home until 2010 on low-powered PCs, such as the Asus Eee, that might struggle to cope with Vista's power demands."

Wonderful. I may be able to skip Vista all together and hop to the next offering. I think MS OSs are like Star Trek movies. Good(98se), bad (ME), good (XP), bad (vista), good .....

Vista isn't a bad operating system as long as you have the power to run it properly and a little bit of know-how to tweak it. XP wasn't a particularly good OS, IMO Win2K was much much better. I have been running Vista since the first Beta and I really don't have anything to complain about and I do bash it hard.

XP is good for you lower spec PC's but as most PC's coming out are more than capable of running the OS with no issues then I don't get what certain people are complaining about.

Vista is far far superior to XP.

    It's called progress and change.

I remember my friends with Windows 3.1 going to Windows 95, before that Windows DOS.

    Good good times.

And technically "The Seach for Spock" is a better film than the "Wrath of Khan", so what?

    Technical schmecnical.

The way Vista was redesigned to make security the #1 focus to end the poor design of 95/98/ME/2K and XP certainly is a major factor in why Vista is superior to all other MS offerings.

Unfortunately the security side of things in Vista are half the problem with Vista. Users demanded it then didn't like the impact when it was introduced. Catch 22.
