HI! I am currently a Dial-Up customer with V21 and we are very happy with their service! Now we're trying to upgrade to ADSL, so it seems V21 are offering the best deal:
They have told me:
First off, whats this activation charge? We will be buying our own Router etc 'cos I can find better deals on it than what they will give me.
Apart from that, the only restriction they give me is the 2GB monthly Download limit? No connectoin time or anything like that?
Is anyone else on this service?
Thanks guys!
They have told me:

I've been looking at V21 broadband too, but the £9.98 per month deal sounds too good to be true! They give you 'freetalk' with free weekend calls to boot...the only thing stopping me is that I don't know anyone else on the service and what it's like, or about contract lengths.
I think the £47 activation is to 'activate' your ADSL line - it seems standard - all companies charge for this in some form or other. Some make you pay up front, while others recoup it over 12 months, and charge you for it if you cancel before the 12 month period. The only way you can get out of paying it seems to be if you are 'migrating' from another broadband ISP, which will already have activated your line for you.0 -
I'll try some other forums and post my findings, if any!0

Ok, what the catch is is that it has a 2Gb transfer limit, NOT a download limit! So basically all it takes is you too visit 2Gb's worth of pages, and that's it for the month! Well that's fine if you are a very light user, but to be honest that's not going to last me (Or probably any other user keen enough to visit these forums) for the month required.
It is for these reasons I'm not going to use it!0 -
Take a look at E7even or PlusNet. PlusNet are £14.99pm for up to 2Mbps.0

I just assumed the transfer and download limits were synonymous! Well I guess it's back to the drawing board for me; I'm getting so fed up of looking!
The next cheapest thing was Bulldog's Alltime 1000 plan with the £5 off per month for the first 6 months deal. It's unlimited, which is good, but I've heard some awful things about it's Customer Service...0 -
I've heard Bulldog are on Watchdog tomorrow night0

The price is good if you can live with the ridiculous limit though. To infinity and beyond!0 -
OK I'm even more confused! My flatmate rang up v21 today and apparently it is the same as a download limit! Webpages are counted in the transfer/ download limit anyway, and most ADSL ISPs offer a 2Gb download/ transfer limit on their capped services.0
-
I've seen caps from 2GB to 150GB so I'm not sure that most caps are 2GB. I use Virgin.net and they have three difference packages with 3GB, 6GB and 20GB caps. I am currently on the 3GB service which costs £14.99 per month.
Depending on what you use the internet for 2GB might be ok but ask V21 does that include uploads and downloads. If it is for both and you upload things like files for websites, transfer files to friends via msn etc then that will also come off your 2GB.0 -
A transfer limit certainly isn't the same as a download limit. A transfer limit will count both upstream & downstream traffic. A download limit, as the name suggests, will count downloads only.
Can anyone get to their T&C's? At the bottom of every page, there is a "Terms and conditions apply*" link which just loads the same page again (its a link for the same URL as the page currently being viewed, with a "#"). The same occurs when you click the "Home" link at the bottom, and the "V" logo in the top right.
Seems to be a very poorly written web-site.
[EDIT]:- even after starting the order process, there is no link or mention of the T&C's. I got as far as entering my personal details, and saw no mention of the T&C's. Seems a bit dodgy to me.
And most ADSL comes with 2GB limits....err, I don't think so.
And I also disagree with the use of "massive" alongside "2GB". - contradiction in terms I think.0
