I am saying that 800x600 is better than 1024x768 if your eyesight is a bit naff.
  • even when a monitors native resolution is higher...i was always told that the native resolution removes "blurryness" etc and is sharper hence reducing headaches?

Now I find the smaller print on the 1280x1024 to be more blurry than this one, and I also changed that setting that Martin mentioned several months back which sharpened up the edges of the font slightly, and I find I get less headaches now than when I was using my CRT monitor.

  • Thanks for all your replies! I had a look at the w3schools.com link. As far as I can make out in July 2005 69% of internet users used a resolution higher than 1024x768. It will be interesting to see if the mini-poll here gives a similar conclusion.

In reference to Curry_Queen, I use a TFT and CRT. The CRT gives me owful headaches if I use it for an extended period of time. The TFT is excellent. I recently purchased the 19" LG after finding a good deal from this website. It runs the same native resolution as my previous 17" monitor, so I use 1280x1024, but with two extra inches to play with I don't need to strain my eyes a much.

  • The nice thing with a CRT is that it is much better for doing design work. I find that TFT panels vary to a fair degree on your perception of colour.
... and that's all I have to say about that.
  • 1440x900 .... 17" wide :D
