donna73 - thanks for the laminating idea! Also for me when I first started trying to change my attitude to the mess that is our house it was the little things that made the most difference - and they are still the things I keep up 2 years on. I rarely go up to bed without spending 2 minutes wiping the kitchen worktops/sink, and the bathroom so they never get that bad. I don't switch the pc on till I am dressed and the DW is on etc, otherwise I can sit here for half of the morning. The difference half an hour can make to a room is amazing.

Pigpen - with you on the finances but dont be so hard on yourself. This was a planned for hard month for us too - what wasn't planned was SS1 running up an £80 mobile bill, and DS1 having a huge grow which means new trousers and shoes, and George coming into season for the first time so she could be neutered at £65. You can't plan for everything.

Mudbath - Hope it goes well. Teaching my granny to suck eggs I am sure but try and remember though that the head will have to defend the school - it is his job after all. He may totally agree with you but is unlikely to say so. Good that you are bothering. Mine is only in 4+ and already I find the lack of support and respect the teachers are given by some of the parents quite shocking.

Slow cookers - bought one last week, not convinced yet. Can someone point me towards an unbeatable recipe?

Selling books - if anyone has one on DIY upholstery that they want to sell then PM me please. I bought a chaise longue on e-bay last night... (whoops, more unscheduled spending)
Anyway, just back from work. I have an hour till we have to collect DS1, and DS2 has just gone to sleep on the sofa. It is raining so no gardening. Just how much can I get done?

Pigpen - I am with you for a HHC 2-2.30 it is. Can I just make a cup of tea first........

    Afternoon all

Ducking out of flying here, went to the gym last night and came home with a migraine. DH had to get me into bed and even take my contact lenses out for me, I can't remember driving home.

So feel like poop today but what can you do? Taken DS to toddlers, he fell in the car park and cut his head so that was fun.

Going to veg on the sofa now while he sleeps.

Oh, we ordered our patio slabs last night so will be doing that this weekend, must post some before and after pics.

Hugs to those in need xxx

Coffee break again as I'm freezing! Trouble is when I put a jumper on I got too hot

Almost finished the 2nd box of clothing, 2 more bundles make up the next box and thats it :D

I'm thinking of putting in an Asda order to be delivered on Friday night or maybe Saturday to give me a chance to sort out the cupboards etc properly and see what we need. I'm sure I can fill everything fit to bursting point again with 1 £50 shop which should last us the month, minus fresh fruit/salad :D Will attack the cupboards etc after tea.

Trying to sort out arrangements with ex over seeing DD this weekend  If we can sort it I think I might just blow the budget a bit and see if anyone fancies going out for a drink on Saturday night - haven't been on a night out in months, if not years!:o

Best get on with this listing...oh hell there's the washing machine finished. Should put that out first and get the bedding in the TD :o Looks like it could rain anytime anyway

Donna - saw giant jaffa cake on here http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=886029
the other day. Thought I'd have a go - this is my first attempt at it. Have a read of the whole thread first as there are a few good tips. I've just finished making it and I used orange quick-gel, 1 tin of mandarins (probably could have done with two really), and bought a ready made sponge flan from tesco yesterday - think it was about 55p. I just used cooking chocolate on the top. Don't be too impatient like me - I got fed up of stirring the quick-gel while it cooled a bit and put it in a bowl to cool it quicker - it worked and did cool quicker but set too quickly and I had to throw it in the flan quick! I'll let you know how it tastes later.

Hex - I'll post the link for slow cooker recipes in a min - doesn't seem to want to work at the mo.

Hex - for some reason the link doesn't want to work but you can copy and paste this into your web bar thingy at the top.

Let me know if it doesn't work and I'll try again.

ETA: No its not working - hang on - I'll try again.

pigpen - your dd sounds like my ds. he came home again last week and said he's going to misbehave at school. on questioning him it's because the little boy in his class who is total twot only has to behave for five minutes then he can 'choose' for 15. he plays lego....my son works. how exactly is that right?

hex - i will keep in mind what you've said. i'm going to try hard not to go in all guns blazing because i need to work with him to get changes. from his message on the phone he's already said things are going to change. i'm going to have to believe him on that. he knows i usually support the school 100% so i think he realises how bad things are for me to complain.

the one handed massage went well. my friend suggested i took on a few of my long term old clients and tell them to pay what they want for the massage. think i might give it a go as i'm still not getting incapacity.

one load of washing done, dried for ten and hung.

four children back for tea tonight. why? because i'm mad xx
  • I am just half way through the filing but had to come down to register of online bills from talktalk as they are going to start charging for posting them out... just incase I wasn't the only one that only checked the amount actually going out and not all the other guff they send with the bill
