Virgin internet problems today

I'm sorry, I don't remember him saying anything about it synching OK. All he said was that he could see that I "wasn't connected".
However, just noticed on my notes that I made at home of the errors was that in amongst all the LCP initilizing and coming up error messages is a "Loss of synchronisation:1" however I only remember seeing this once...
Ignore what your router is saying. Connect your PC directly to the modem & it'll be easier to diagnose your problems if its with the connection from the ISP or a fault with the router.
Can you access the internet when the modem is connected directly to the PC?
If not, look at the modem, is the sync light lit on there when its on? If it isnt then you've got a problem that Virgin will need to raise a fault on. If it is then reply back on here with some findings.0 -
3 weeks ago virgin did admit they had a problem with the broadband in the Belfast area and even refunded the price for my phone call,(i have a bt phone line)on the phone for 1.20mins and was refunded .60p first time ever0

For anyone confused the OP is an ADSL customer and not a cable customer. Makes a difference. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0

Another update about my Virgin ADSL problems. As mentioned, we moved to the 2mb connection after being told it was fixed 2mb and unlimited downloads (no peak time issues). Well, again as mentioned, it turned out not to be 'unlimited'.
Today after getting speeds of 1.3mb (sitting right next to the modem so should be a good connection), I called up to find out that this CAN happen due to congestion... Now hold on I said, I thought it was fixed? ("like having your own lane on the motorway":rolleyes2 ).
"It is fixed" I was told by the advisor "but congestion can make it drop"...
"So it's not fixed?" I said...:wall:
So to sum up Virgin ADSL...
Unlimited service that has limits.
Fixed speed that can fluctuate...
Why don't they just advertise it as free and charge us 15 quid whilst they're at it??!
A complete joke.0 -
Im on Virgin ADSL in the plymouth area...
Essentially I get speeds of 6mbits between Midnight -> 3-4pm in the day.... the rest of the time the speed dwindles down to almost modem speed.
This is obviously congestion... Im only 500m from the local exchange...
It is a bit crappy but I cannot get Cable here and had 6 months left on cable before we moved. Suffice to say once the 12 months are up I will be moving off Virgin to another supplier.0
