Is this to do with the books a lot of people ordered for 1p each on their website? Myself included.
I got a confirmation, followed a few days later by a cancellation...

Thirdly, as far as 'restoring faith in the company and integrity of the web site', do you not think you are being a bit melodramatic?

Also does the op really think the reader of that will actually think it will restore the op's faith in the company or will they read it as I have that he's a money grabber. Out of 60 million people in this country do people really want customers who'll want compensation for the slightest thing ie they might not like the colour of a new website, that price rise was slightly annoying.

These people more than others will be the ones that call themselves "valued customers" but they're not, they're the least valued customers you can get in any business. They'll be the first to shoot their mouths off if something goes slightly wrong. I run my own business, thats not the sort of person I want to do business with.

Posted in another thread but so funny you need to see it.
  • Uktim29 I find your comments a wee bit arrogant.

I ordered the books for my three year old son, and he keeps asking where they are. If you visit discount book stores they offer cheap books, so it is not beyond the bounds of reasonability regarding the offer.

What I find disappointing is how WHSmith handled this, I certainly will not be placing an order with them again. How can you have any faith with a company that checks their orders, perhaps does like the price on review, so cancels all the orders ? A very authoritarian attitude with little regard for potential customers.

^95% of other companies would have done exactly the same thing, unless they have taken your money they owe you nothing legally
even if you walk into a shop and the price is wrong they dont have to sell it to you!

whs is really not one of my fave companies at all but its hardly their fault you promised your son something without it physically being there

offer something in compensation as a way of restoring the faith in the company and integrity of the website. When neither this happens I do believe the senior management should explain why their company is behaving in this manner.

    Demand compensation!!

Have you not told him they've sold out??

The reason I ask is that in the days of dealing with TalkTalk's incompetence, someone kindly posted Charles Dunstone's (the MD of Carphone Warehouse) email address, and that helped get the issue resolved.

The bottom line is that if a retailer cancels an order after the customer has received an order confirmation, they should have spoken to the customer prior to this. If it has made a pricing error it should apologise and offer something in compensation as a way of restoring the faith in the company and integrity of the website. When neither this happens I do believe the senior management should explain why their company is behaving in this manner.

Oh shut up - you're out to get something for nothing or at a non realisticly reduced price. Grow up and quit whining that it didn't come off as you wanted.

Im sure other people are in the same sitatuation. If you are that bothered, instead of wasting your money on phone bills-buy them for your son.
