Hillarys blinds

As we are useless at diy we would quite like to use a north London firm that would measure and fit - however all I can come up with on the web is Hillarys blinds. I know they are UK wide -are they very expensive - has anyone used them? Or can anyone suggest anywhere in Wood Green or Enfield area perhaps?
I know we could measure ourselves and use an online order service and then get a handyman to fit but unless there are huge savings I would rather just get measuring, making and fitting all in one.
I wouldn't touch them with a bargepole. Two weeks after installation they sent a final demand threatening court proceedings - in spite of my having fully settled the bill.
No problem - anyone can make a mistake. So I rang up and asked to be put through to a senior manager - NOT a 'customer adviser' - and was told I couldn't speak to ANYONE other than an adviser, if I wanted to make a complaint, as people were 'often angry'
So - they have lots of angry customer and they can't deal with them....0 -

I had a quote from hilarys for shutters but had real problems trying to negotiate - I won't go into the complications unless anyone really interested. Anyway, I went to John Lewis for a quote, slightly cheaper & I am sure their customer service if there is an issue is much more trustworthy so don't believe hilarys when they say they are cheap!0

Do yourself a favour, keep clear of hillarys blinds.you will never see a list price before the sale adverts.i.e. 50% off sale(off what?)can't beat local, where you can speak to the owner.0

I personally will never use Hillarys blinds- I expect they treat their customers like they treat other road users - no respect and driving their vans at 50mph + through residential 30mph limits.
And I was only witness to another law abiding driver being subjected to rude and aggressive behaviour from the Hillarys van!0 -
Make sure you get lots of quotes; when I got some wood venetian blinds fitted I had three/four different companies come out and the price varied dramatically (none of them were Hillary's)Thrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End
You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time0 -
This is an old thread but just wanted to say that I had Hillarys blinds fitted about a year and a half ago. With many of this type of company, you know they will always come up with "a deal" if you don't jump at their first price. Anyway, we didn't and got a reasonable price, an excellent fitter and were really happy with our blinds. The previous year we had cheaper blinds fitted by someone else but can honestly say that the Hillary ones are of a much better quality and the dust doesn't cling onto them as badly.0

We are a small family ran company called gle blinds we are based in Newcastle Upon Tyne, we always say get 3 quotes but for a full house of wood venetian blinds you should be looking at around £500 supplied and fitted, but it also depends on the size of the windows but that is what we have been fitting full houses for in the North East.
Some firms do the price drop, they hit you with a big price and if you say yes they are quids in but if you say no then they drop the price little by little until you say yes. every company should give you 1 price and it should be their best price for a quality product and service.0 -
We've used Wilsons Blinds, and had a really good service - online company, website here:
http://www.wilsonsblinds.co.uk/
We sent them detailed measurements using the instructions they gave us, and chose the colour from one the the many samples they were happy to send. The blinds arrived, and fitted absolutely perfectly, and are a great colour which has lasted without any fading or colour change for 2 years now. Also a really good price. Very happy with them all round, definitely worth considering if you don't mind putting your own blinds up and can measure the window yourself.0
