I have just given my windows and upvc frames a quick clean for the first time since I moved in over a year ago!!!

I basically just used a bucket of flash all purpose solution with a car wash sponge to wipe the whole lot over, once dried I cleaned the glass with a glass spray.

I'm now left with upvc frames that are still a bit dirty, so I'm thinking of using the sainsburys basic cream cleaner and a cloth to clean them properly. Im guessing this is a cheap version of cif/jif?

If I talked about 32 ounce, or Patchwork, or Cross Reeded, very few youngsters would know what I'm on about, but people with many years experience in the glass trade would know straight away.
    And us old plumbers:D

Just tried out Rhodorsil - both, the cream and the solvent cleaner.
Yep i have used Rhodorsil solvent many times, and it works a treat, wouldn't use a cream based cleaner imo.

I used the silver cleaning wadding to remove some parcel tape that was attached to my front door UPVC frame (don't ask why :)). It came up an absolute treat.

    Hi,
I've been using "Standard Cellulose Thinners" for the last 15 years without problems. You can buy it from any car paint suppliers (specialist dealers, rather than Halfords etc.) It's about 7 quid for 5 Litres. Absolutely amazing stuff. I've never noticed any ill-effects (try it first though) but use white rag to wipe the frames with it. Coloured rag may bleed colour. Keep it away from rubber beading (or you'll end up with black streaks on the white frames). Don't worry though - any black streaks or colour bleed from rag will simply wipe off with the thinners. Wear rubber gloves, preferably ones rated as chemical resistant. Marigolds tend to split after a while. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS ADVICE IS FOR WHITE FRAMES ONLY!!!!! I'd be wary about using it on brown frames etc. Use in a well ventilated area (i.e. outside) and DON'T SMOKE!!! If you spill the thinners on any finished surface (best coffee table etc. it'll spoil it before you get the chance to wipe it off quick).
P.S The thinners makes brilliant paint brush cleaner too, but get it on the handles of your best quality red wooden handled brushes and it'll strip the finish off before your very eyes.

    Polybear.

This really is NOT A GOOD IDEA. Cellulose thinners is mainly Toluene and Xylene which both ATTACK AND MELT RUBBER. Seals will melt, dry and go brittle.

Well as the quoted post from polybear was made 4 years ago, I doubt your advice will really be much help now.

Sorry to bump this up was doing a search on google for a polish for upvc and found this thread

I got some marks on upvc above windows (porch) where a ladder as been rested many times to get on flat roof above a porch for access to side of house.

How can I remove these marks, the upvc is polished surface and where ladder has been there slight marks and upvc has gone slightly dull.

    Will car polish do it?

I have used this cleaner to get marks off upvc, not sure whether it would remove the type of staining you describe but it is not expensive so may be worth a try.
