Are you sure about this? I was one of the original Tomtom Go buyers about 4 years ago (yes, I paid £400 for it  ) and I have consistently manged to update the software using Tomtom home and I have the latest UK, Europe, Canada and US maps which all work perfectly. No idea why your one won't update.
According to the tomtom help service its because I have never used tomtom home previously, so now its like trying run before I can walk

Are you suggesting buying pirated maps off a hooky ebay seller as if you are it is aganist the T&Cs of this site. Aside from which why anyone would pay for pirated maps is beyond me, if you're going to break the law why not get them for free? It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -

This may sounds stupid but how do one tell whether a a map is pirated?0 -
If you are buying maps from ebay or "companies" operating from hotmail email accounts then the maps are pirated.
As far as I know the only place to get legitimate TomTom maps is from TomTom.
Legit companies do not use Hotmail. 12 year old software pirates do0 -
You can biy the maps from Third Parties and they may even be a bit cheaper than Tom Tom but they won't be super cheap. They sell them here for example and as far as I know Handtec are a genuine, reliable company.
Genereally with things like this if they are being sold ridiculously cheaply they're pirated. It's my problem, it's my problem
