I hear there are so many sites around and no one can help? Does that mean you all pay to update?0

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. I would suggest that TomTom are also being "ripped off" by wherever they buy the updates to sell on. They are not comprehensively up to date, so yes are quite poor.
I've had three satnavs, Tom Tom being the latest and all have been pretty useless at getting me where I'm going. Only last week I got lost (or Tom Tom got me lost) in Macclesfield, a road was closed which totally confused the nice lady on my satnav. A friendly local pointed me in the right direction as usual. Defeats the object a bit really doesn't it?0 -
If you go to the TomTom web site & download TomTom Home, depending on the model you have, they now have MapShare which updates the maps.0

Satnavs aren't completely foolproof and require a little bit of common sense when using them. The fact you've had the same problem with three different types suggests the problem doesn't lie with them...
I have no such problems despite using one in a 44 tonne artic. They take no account of low bridges or weight, length and width restrictions as they're designed for cars yet I don't seem to have the issues you do.0
