Caught speeding with expired provisional.

Well, you can't drive on the motorway with a provisional anyway...
No idea what the sentencing structure is, but presumably an unlicensed driver is not insured either - anyone know more about this?Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0 -

The sad thing is he is not looking at jail.
He will need to kill someone first. Seems like he is going the right way about it. 20mphabove the speed limit hasn't passed his test on a road he is not allowed to be on.I Guess it was just a mistake thenMy opinions are purely my own act on them at your own risk :think:0 -
As ever good to see constructive comments:rolleyes:
The situation however, as half mentioned above, is that someone wont be jailed for motoring offences unless a death is involved.
the offence as i understand them are
1) driving without a licence
2) Driving without insurance (though had he hit a third party vehicle he would have been insured against third party risks if his vehicle was insured they just would not have paid out on his car)
3) he might not get a ban as he doenst have a licence (stupid i know but often true)
normally you would be looking at an SP50, LC20 (this wont apply as he doesnt have a licence to not be driving in accordance with)
chances are it 'might' just end up with a hefty fine - as i say you cant ban someone who isn't meant to do it in the same place.
he does need to pull himself together though as he is obviously putting his own and other peoples lives in serious danger.0 -
Well there was a stupid eejit on the programme Traffic Cops last night - he was caught speeding on the motorway doing 124mph:eek: He was a young driver, he ended up with a £750 fine, a ban from driving and told to re-take his test.
As for your relative, he shouldnt have been driving on the motorway with a provisional licence in the first place nor should he have been travelling at excessive speed. Perhaps, he will get a hefty fine, a ban plus being told to retake his test - lets hope so.0 -
What difference is banning him or asking him to take a test ? No use whatsoever, and unfortunately he wont be jailed.
If he couldnt be arsed to get a licence and pass a test in the first place, and hasnt any insurance why ban him ? It doesnt apply to this type of character as he is above the law and wouldnt abide by it.0
