I think the OP means that Co-Op are the clearing bank for Northern Rock, Just like HSBC are the one for Coventry BS. Not that they are running Northern Rock.
If the Institution doesn't have its own sort code you can't pay cheques/Bacs into the accounts so they rent one from one that does. In this case Co-Op.0 -

Funnily enough my Northern Rock card has never worked in Lidl and I only use debit cards when credit cards are not accepted :think:
I asked The Coventry and they said there was no difference at all between the two cards and that it would work Offline.
I will confirm on Monday when i'm on a flight and pay for my ridiculously overpriced bread roll.:D0 -
