Limit varies per individual, for me I'm probably down the lower end with about £20-25k a month free to spend upfront, though I typically spend far less each month (I called them a while ago to quickly check on limit, as I was going to be having a month of large spend).

If I needed to spend more, AmEx would want to see proof of ability to repay, so will typically check with the bank, or make a pre-payment to my account.

As to the US $500k limit, myth again. It is all done on credit score, ability to repay and past spend history.

Of course there are some really rich customers that are free to spend obscene amounts of money each month as part of their 'limit'. I have no problem spending on my card, it's the paying at the end of the month.... :rotfl:

OK 747, I too will apologise, I think that you will agree for a new member to come on MSE and declare cards of that nature did take a bit of believing.

I didn't even believe the photo, because that could have been acquired off of the net, however you have since given enough supportive evidence to substantiate your claim, so well done to you, and again sorry.;)

I can fully see this now! No need to apologise at all.

Absolute irony is that the vast majority people have no clue what the card is or really don't care - it is just a card. Well aside from the US where for some reason I get asked a lot about it. Saying that now that the damn thing is made out of Titanium, more people are noticing when it is handed over for payment.

cheers mate - all makes sense now.... as for your 'monthly spend' all I can say is

If I even seen that amount on a bill i'd fall over and die! My god - it'd be enough to send me into cardiac arrest! Sod Jacko, N-i-D's in cardiac! :rotfl:

So are you a pilot then? Lots of travel, supports flying and earns a good salary..... username 747? I'd hazard a guess you're something to do with aviation.

That is 'free to spend', my actual monthly spend averages out about £5k/month which is a mix of personal spend and business expenses.

Can see the cardiac arrest scenario - I've heard the thud of the monthly statement on the doorstep before. Open it up and the 'what on Earth have I bought?' sentiments - its' the little things that add up, £50 here, £90 there etc.

Not a pilot, or anything to do with the aviation industry. Don't fly as much as I used to sadly, though it is nice to be at home and sleep in your own bed!

Always interested in a good deal or a bargain, and you guys here on MSE always have some great tips and advice to give! Keep up the good work! :T

Being 18, I feel the same way, but the difference is I get worried when it's a pound here and a pound there.:rotfl:

You wouldn't want it the other way; it's a nightmare to do expenses claims.

Haha, it would be unwise of me to say one way or the other, since it'd make me even easier to track down in Barclays.

We don't have secretaries anyway, we have personal assistants and administrators available to Top 400 staff and above.
