I have some information that was useful to me, however would like to know where to get these tablets cheaper also.
A GP friend of mine introduced me to a tablet called Xycal which is (Levo Cetrizine dihydrocholride).

The GP stated that it was found that Zirtek (Cetrizine dihydrocholride) right side of the molecule was counteracting the left hand side of the molecule(think that's the right term).
So in order to stop this they split this into right and left cetrizine dihydrocholride.
This is where levo cetrizine dihydrocholride (levo meaning left) comes in.
The reason it is not well publicised is that the to split this molecule costs a lot more but is a lot more effective.

I have used these for a few years now and find them far more effective than Zirtek. However as I stated earlier would like to find them cheaper somewhere!

Hope this helps some people as I am a bad sufferer and know how it feels.

Also last year I used the light treatment medinose and found it very effective it's just having the time to do it and the kids laughing at you for looking like rudolph!!

    Regards

    Neil

My mum swears by taking a spoonful of local honey to ease her hay fever which I may try this year but failing that it will be one of the deals on this page,

I read the artice, and the bit that said:
"Patent laws mean there is currently no generic equivalent of Benadryl, which makes it one of the most expensive treatments in the long-term."
A couple of years ago I was prescribed one called Semprex, which was acrivastine, which is what Benadryl is, however my last prescroption was Benadryl, so what happended to Semprex I don't know, bit of a bummer really because the Semprex came in a pack of about 60, which would probably last me a couple of summers. Benadryl, I think, only comes in 12 or maybe 24 ??

Picture here: Not especially clear, sorry. It's scanned

I too used to get Semprex on prescription.. But from a couple of years ago my Acrivistine prescription was fulfilled by Benadryl

100_3031+%28Small%29.JPG100_3033+%28Small%29+%28WinCE%29.JPGI had to register on this forum to say thank you for this offer. I got 120 (4 x 30) tablets for around £5, including postage. Just checked chemist-4-u and they are no longer on special offer, but still represent a good price at 98p for 30. The expiry date is 03/09. I've used Zirtec several months passed their expiry before, so I think I've got sufficient stock for 2 years here. Also bought 1 pack of Chlorphenamine (Piriton) tablets for £1.59.

Which Nottingham pharmacy is this please? If it's somewhere in town I'd rather just go and get it next time I'm nearby.

Just a bit worried about giving my card details to an unkown company!

    Thanks,

  • As a sufferer of hayfever and also having 2 children who have hayfever it can be quie expensive. Children are loathed to take tablets so I have looked for the cheapest syrup. I have found that Benadryl Syrup at www.chemist-4-u.com is far cheaper than anywhere and works. Benadryl Allergy Solution 100ml £2.98 as opposed to £4.49 in superdrug.

Also stock up on my own tablets, eye drops for all, for the whole summer. Saves worrying about running out.

Chemist-4-U curently have a price comparision chart on Hayfever page for 5 suppliers. May be useful
