Washer/Dryer

if you get a washer drier dont leave the clothes drying in it for too long as you wont get the creases out when you come to iron it trust me my mum has run a ironing service for the last 6 years and we have to tell people to leave it slightly damp for us as even we wont be able to get the creases out!

I've had a Zanussi for three years now, and its worked a charm. 1600 spin so clothes are pretty much dry after the spin, and then has the dryer to finish them off. Personally I only use the dryer in the winter for doing bed sheets, rest of the time I just hang my clothes inside in winter and outside in summer. My parents also have the same model as me (no longer available, this is the current version) and their's is still going strong, and they use their's a lot more than me (sister moved out on recently).
Prior to the Zanussi my parents had a Hotpoint washer/dryer, and it last 12 years, despite running day in day out for the four of us. I think it need a belt replacing in all that time. People always say these things are nightmares - not in my experience!0 -
Hiya
i bought same looking zanussi but its 1200 spin thats on the previous post, had to get a combi as there was no room in this house for seperate washer and dryer, i sold them wished i hadnt now thinking about it i could have kept drier in bedroom and used it with a vent tube thru window, i dont use my dryer now as it takes twice as long to get stuff dry and they are tooooo hot to handle and creased, i still got burn on my arm from the zip when i took jeans out the first time i used it. Plus the dryer shrunk my son;s tee shirts he wasnt happy chappy even tho i had previously dryed them before in my old dryer.
Also there is no cool cycle at the end of drying time.
I bought a couple of clothes racks for when i cant get my washing dried outside, i know it takes ages to get dry but saves me time from trying to get all creases out when ironing.0 -
Thankyou for that advice, it make such a difference hearing other peoples experiences... looks like I will go for the Zanussi ic highlighted to me thankyou ..0

We have a Zanussi 1400 spin washer dryer, it's 2 years old.
It's currently waiting for an engineer to replace a couple of parts.
Considering the hammer it gets I can't complain.
We had a Zanussi model before this one, a combi again, had minor troubles with that too, but personally I wouldn't have anything else. Always ran well under the strain of our house.
I agree with the drying problems of other comments but if you use it as we do, dry for less time than you think is required and pop them back in if needed, you should be ok.
It might be a little time consuming but it does the trick for us.
Obviously seperate units would be better, but when theres no other option a combi should be fine but I would recommend increasing your warranty. It's always been worthwhile for me.
It's not a good selling point to recommend extra warranty for any appliance but a washer dryer does come in for some stick.
Mine needs a new rubber bellows, the seal around the door, typical cost £35 plus labour. So typically around £100. Also needs a new dryer fan. So I'm quids in straight away.
Hope this helps.0 -
thankyou it does help...0

What about putting a separate dryer in a shed if you have one? My MIL does that
(racks brains for other ideas to help....!:D)0 -
If you look on Currys' website, each item links to a page of independent reviews, so you can get an idea from that which are any good and which might not be. Guess what I've spent the afternoon doing! :rotfl:
I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

The combi I had wasn't a Zanussi and it sounds like these actually work, you'll have to let us know how you get on.0 -
This is the Zanussi I'm currently looking at. It's £100 cheaper than comet so worth considering + it's 1600 spin:
