This is one my mum used to make and I LOVED, but OH abhors celery so dont get to make it anymore
Brown pork in a casserole dish (can cut up or leave in whole steaks) and set aside.(to be honest thinking about it you cook it for so long can probably just put the raw pork, onions celery in there without any prefrying-makes it MUCH easier) Fry a sliced onion and half a head of celery in casserole for a few minutes on low.
In a bowl mix:
1 tbsp malt vinegar
2 " " worcestershire sauce
2 " " soft brown sugar
2 " " tomato sauce
1 " " tom puree
1 tsp curry powder
stock cube (chicken/optional)
and about half pint of water. put pork back in casserole, pour mix over top and stick in oven for about 2 hours at 170. can thicken it with arrowroot (or cornflour I suppose) at the end
Was always one of my faves and you can freeze it easily. Yummy with mash or else rice. Nowadays I would probably add carrots and mushrooms etc to it too.0 -
My favourite is pork loin steak with apple, stuffing and bacon.
spread a layer of apple sauce onto steak, add a layer of sage and onion, wrap in 2 rashers of streaky bacon and pop into the oven, lovely.
Not sure how good it is at freezing. If everyone cared and nobody cried, if everyone loved and nobody lied, if everyone shared and swallowed their pride then we'd see the day when nobody died.
ROCK IT DON'T STOP IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BE GOOD OR BE GOOD AT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

There's a quick easy recipe here: http://www.mydish.co.uk/recipe/587/alis_grannys_pork_sauce_by_claire
I'd change the recipe ever so slightly though and add the sauces along with the apple and simmer for a while to mellow the flavours.

Hi - can anyone help please?
I bought pork loin joints from Cosco, which are top quality meat. Last time I used them I used a recipe I found somewhere (can't recall where - could have been Good Housekeeping) with rosemary. I think I sliced it into steaks and used apple juice or wine but its all a bit fuzzy now! The meat was delicious and I'd like to do something similar today.
Has anyone some ideas or can find a suitable recipe?
The joint/s are very lean and the meat is tender, so it doesn't need slow cooking, and we'd like to eat it this evening.
Thanks for the helpsomewhere between Heaven and Woolworth's0 -
Hi pandora,
There's an earlier thread with lots of ideas for pork loin steaks that should help so I've added your thread to it to keep the recipes together.
I've made them with brandy and apples before and they were lovely using this recipe from Delia: Pork with Apples and Calvados This one is good too: Cider braised pork with cream and mushrooms. I know that those recipes are for braised pork but perhaps you could adapt it for your steaks?

Thank you Pink-winged - that sounds lush. I actually found a recipe on the net for pork loin with lemon, thyme and garlic, which is what I cooked. It was lovely though I overdid the lemon slightly, but fortunately we had it with roasted sweet potatoes that cancelled it out!
I'll have a go with one of the other ideas next time round as I love the idea of using cream in the recipe.somewhere between Heaven and Woolworth's0
