actually - just a thought re MrsTittleMouse above - my very elderly cat (21 in a week!) LOVES to brush her face against my hairbrush. she does it so hard that she lifts her front paws off the ground and goes mad when she sees it. It must hurt her, but she loves to brush her mouth and cheeks on it. Any ideas about that anyone??
cats do enjoy this, even the ones who don't like being brushed I've found.I have my own theory on this and it's because their whiskas are so sensitive and I think they are massaging them realy. It must feel nice to them.0 -
thanks for that - she clearly does love it as she dribbles and purrs so much when she gets the brush - its always soaking when I get it back! As long as it doesn't hurt her, I suppose she can carry on.Paying down the mortgage:

I have a theory it is keratin that does it for the cats that like hairbrushes and nailfiles - hair and nails are both made form keratin.
Our cat now, and also our dear departed one, both love emery boards, nail files, even those polishing blocks you get for buffing the top surface of your nails.
We ended up using metal nail files because emery boards would quickly be pierced with cat teeth if left lying anywhere accessible. Our cat has also been spotted nicking me and DD's hair bobbles, she sneaks them off somewhere, but we've never found where. It took a while blaming DD for losing bobbles all the time before the cat was spotted making off with them.:oMember of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

With our cats it's peppermint teabags. We only left them out once and when we returned the box was open, torn teabags were everywhere and the floor was covered in tea! I've even caught one of them trying to hook the teabag out of the cup as I try to make the tea. :rotfl:
They also love catnip, so we're assuming catnip and peppermint are perhaps part of the same family!0 -
This brings back memories of my swimming days. I swam 6 time a week and lay down in front of the gas fire to dry my hair. My ginger tom used to wait at the door for me to return the 'help' me brush and dry my hair, he used to possitively suck any wet bits.
Now I have four cats. Three couldn't care less about catnip but the new one goes mad for it.Doing voluntary work overseas for as long as it takes .......
My DD might make the odd post for me0 -
Yes, a couple of my cats love bleach too, and roll around the floor when I have bleached it (diluted)..especially the ginger tom, he is in ecstasy...he is also like this when I brush my teeth, he sits on the wash basin side and rubs his chin into the toothpaste (which has been 'used' and is before being rinsed away) he also gets some himself and rubs his chin into it, he drools, and shuts his eyes, he likes a polo sometimes as well. I have a plastic brush - a cat nip holder, hollow for the catnip to go in, - its tied to the table leg, and my cats rub their faces on this for hours, sometimes I squirt cat nip spray onto it and they love it.0
