HELP PLEASE? Cat with chlorine obsession

OK, this is so wierd, I just have to ask if anyone else has experienced the same, or knew why? ...
My DD has recently taken to going swimming again (she hasn't bothered since last summer). She's going at least twice a week, and our cat goes nuts over her/her towel/swimming costume etc when she gets home! Tonight, her shoes got the brunt of her attention, coz DD hadn't worn socks home, and I suppose the canvas soaked up the smell!!
When my DD leaves her swimming stuff on the floor, the cat just can't get enough, she rubs herself all over it really fast, she dribbles, and looks at you like she just can't help herself! If the swimming gear isn't on the floor, she seaks out my DD and does it to her!! almost chewing on her hands tonight (once she'd finished with the shoes)!
The only other time she's acted like this was when the cattery thought it'd be a good idea to glue some catnip herb inside the christmas card they sent, unfortunately the cat got to the post first! By the time I got to it, it looked like paper mache, she had green stains all over her chin from the catnip, and the whole window sill/window/curtains area had been dribbled on and was soaking wet, stained and covered in hair!! (Bless her little white paws)
Any ideas? I presume it's not doing her any harm, very strange behaviour though and she's only just started doing it (she's 11).

My Cat goes mad when i use bleach to clean the toilet or mop the floor.
So definitely a bleach connection there.0 -
Same here, we had a cat that used to go mental whenever we mopped the floor with bleach. Didn't do her any obvious damage, she lived to be 160

Both my cats go mad with bleach too:j £2 coins = £2.00 :j0

Yes one of our cats goes mad with joy at the scent of bleach, running around yowling , like she has been at some seriously strong catnip . Olives ( I know they should not have them but the scent alone again sends her batty) do the same thing to her.0

Can't say I've noticed the bleach attraction with our cat; although I suppose it would require her to actually move off of our bed in order to interact with it. Lazy little so'n'so.
Whilst we're on the subject of cats, we decided to bulk buy felix pouches as they were on special at Asda a couple of months ago. i.e. Over 4 boxes of them, with each box containing 12 pouches. So we've over 50 pouches ready for her to get stuck into. Anyway, we went away for the weekend and a friend stayed to look after the cat. We get back and will she eat her felix - no. It has to be Whiskas or she turns up her nose at it.
I dunno, she seems to rule our lives sometimes - but then again, I wouldn't have it anyother way.0 -

Oh no, the old whiskas addiction!!!
Tizzy's the same, we used to feed her kit-e-kat until one day she had a can of whiskas and that was that. I wonder what they put in it that makes out beloved felines refuse all other makes once they've tried it?
Thanks all for the replies, it's nice to know she's not completely "lost it".Must be the bleach they use in our local pool! I've never noticed her doing it before because i don't use bleach in the house (can't stand the smell myself)!

We had a cat who would roll around the floor in ecstacy when you used bleach.I even caught her drinking from the sink when I had filled it with water and bleach to clean it.She also had a thing about peppermint and menthol. She would roll around for ages playing with a polo looking stoned out of her brain. My vet said bleach is very attractive to cats and that's why you should never use it to clean anywhere they may of soiled.0

My cat goes mental if I've been in contact with bleach...he chews on my hand as if he's a baby again! Weird!!;)I am not a complete idiot - some parts are missing;)0

Yep.....One of my cats loves bleach too.
If I mop the floor, she rolls about on it and turns herself over and over all over the floor. lol
Its so funny to watch.
Our vet said it wouldnt do the cat any harm because it was so diluted.0
