How to cancel O2 contract after 9 mnths?
Hello everyone!
I wonder if anyone has any experience with this.
I had O2 contract for several years and re-newed it last july, i used it to call abroad a lot (using 0870 numbers)
Now that i don't use those numbers anymore i don't really use up my free minutes and just want to cancel it, is there any way to do it after 9 months? called them today, they said i can downgrade after 9 months but as i was on their lowest tariff (25 quid a month for 50 mins and 25 txt, a rip off if you ask me) - i can't downgrade and have to wait till end of August(!!! that will be 13th months as i took out contract in july), what can i do about it? can i still cancel it somehow? Can i cancel at the end of june (11th months but then that would be a 12th payment as they take it in advance). I'm going travelling soon and really don't want to be paying for mins i don't use...
thanks a lot!!!

You can cancel it now, but will have to pay an early termination fee.0

Yeah, you'd have to pay the early termination fee.
They did let people cancel without charge for 30 days after they stopped including the 0870 numbers x0 -
that is a pretty poor contract to be honest. Can you ask them to at least upgrade you to 200 mins and 200 SMS offer at £25....0

i know, it's awful contract but i don't even use that, in fact i don't use my mobile anymore cos all my close friends/relatives are abroad! they didn't tell me they stopped inlcuding 0870 numbers, i just noticed on my bill i get overcharged... when i called to ask them they told me i still can't cancel and have to wait till 9th month to downgrade (but didn't mention that's their lowest tariff)... so there is no way to do it now? (without paying the remaining termination fee?)0 -
There's no way really. Just wait it out x0

''didn't tell me they stopped inlcuding 0870 numbers, i just noticed on my bill i get overcharged..'''
I would of thought that could of gone against the T's and C's surely? Would they not have to tell you changes to their price plan?0 -
I obviously can't speak for the OP, but I'm on o2 and I received a text informing me about the change with the 0870 numbers, as did a number of my friends/family on o2.
I actually cancelled a contract without charge because of it - I think it was 30 days from the receipt of the text x0 -
Actually, I cant speak for O2, but some operators have a clause in the legal side of the ts&cs that says if they make a change to the pricing structure that affects the amount you pay to a certain degree (i cant recall the specifics) then you have a get out clause... but its normally within a certain amt of time after they make the change... how long ago did they make non geo numbers out of bundle? On the up

All providers do (because otherwise the contract would be ridiculously unfair - haha! sign up for 12 months at £20 a month, oh no wait now you're signed up we are going to require you give us £40 a month). But NGN went out of bundle months ago, so it's irrelevant now.0
