HMV - anyone else finding delivery slow?

In short, ordered two items on Friday, got a dispatch email on Sat (which pleasantly surprised me, last time it took a week to send a sale item), I'd expect it to come before Tuesday, even if they posted it 2nd class (well from my experience anyway). It's now Wednesday and no sign of the items. I don't understand why it can take one day, two max to receive a DVD from a film rental company, but it takes just under a week for HMV to get the items I bought to me.

HMV dispatch from Guernsey so it can take longer to reach UK mainland customers as there is a need to clear packages through UK Customs. I don't know if they use airmail or boat but Channel Islands fog can lead to cancelled flights on occasion.0

Thanks, I didn't know that."Beautiful young people are accidents of nature, But beautiful old people are works of art."

I bought a playstation 3 game and a cd from hmv online in november last year as christmas presents. i thought i was being really organised buying my christmas presents so early.
when i did buy it had a 'guarenteed before chrsitmas' thing on top of the website. i rang a week before chrsitmas and the guy said he could not guarantee i would get it before xmas but i 'probably would'. when i said surely thats false advertising then and all he could say was, 'its not my fault, im not hmv i just work for them'. got me so annoyed.
by 3 days before christmas they had not arrived and i saw the game £10 cheaper in asda so i cancelled my order and bought elsewhere.
its fair to say i will NEVER buy from mv again and all the people ive told (which is a lot of them!) have said the same.Money Saved for a house deposit so far = July 2008 £3331.09, August £4396.40, September £5,048.37 (Target = £9,000 by July 2009) 56% there already!:j
If I have helped you in any way, please thank me!0 -
What's more annoying is that instore prices greatly differ for games from their online store. I haven't ordered anything online but I just browse their online catalogue before going to their stores and it's a really downer. I use alternative sites now, like ChoicesUK which dispatched two Wii controllers I ordered within 2 working days (free delivery). Don't know if that's the norm for HMV though.0

I actually emailed HMV about their prices (I'd been given a voucher for the store, and it annoyed me it would've gone further online!!)
I'll just hunt out the email..
I must say I've never had any trouble (touch wood) with delivery from HMV!0 -
Thanks for your email.
I am sorry to hear that you’re not happy with the price difference between
items in our HMV Store chain and online at https://www.hmv.com.
To explain why this is, https://www.hmv.com is owned and operated by HMV Guernsey
Limited, and operate as a separate business to our Stores. We also have a
separate pricing policy that enables us to compete with our online
competitors, rather than other High Street retailers.
As an internet business we are able to operate with lower overheads, and
under a different financial model than a traditional retailer, and as such
are able to pass on additional savings to our customers.
We do state on the web site that all prices are for online purchases only,
and may differ from HMV Stores, but apologise if you felt this wasn’t clear.
Due to legal reasons, we are unfortunately unable to accept HMV Gift Cards
as payment for purchases through the web site. They can only be used in one
of our High Street stores. In future, why not ask for an HMV EGift
certificate which can be purchased and used through the hmv web site.
If there is anything else we can assist you with please don't hesitate to
get in touch, reply to this email or give us a call instead on 0845 603
8576 (Overseas: +44 208 495 4434) we're open 9am - 6pm Monday to Friday.
All the best,
Sarah

I bought from them cos I was getting a good deal, plus quidco (which is yet to show..hmmm...), but it's now Thursday and still no delivery. I've had things from the US arrive quicker."Beautiful young people are accidents of nature, But beautiful old people are works of art."

Hmm, have you given them a call?
It might have been 'lost in the post'0 -
Site says they don't investigate "lost" items til 14 days have passed. I'm getting impatient now, dammit! If you have received a shipping confirmation email, then your order is now on its way to you, and should be with you within 2-5 days of receipt of the email. We would request that if you have received a shipping confirmation email you do not contact the customer service department until 14 days after shipment, when we can then investigate if your order has not arrived.
Don't think I'll be ordering from them again..."Beautiful young people are accidents of nature, But beautiful old people are works of art."
