Which are the options in public transport? I need to advise a couple of French students and only know about the Stansted Express... is there anything else? I seem to remember there was a bus to Victoria Station, does anybody know how to buy tickets in advance, or if it is necessary?
Thanks a lot!

The "to and from our airport" section of the Stansted Airport website tells you everything you ever wanted - and a lot you never thought to ask - about getting from Stansted to London
  • You can go for a little as £2 each way if booked on www.easybus.co.uk

Thanks guys! I had found out and tried to delete the message but the system did not allow me....
    Cheers!
  • If you book online at stansted express website you can get a slight discount. Catch is you need to remember the reference number you get and then input it into a ticket machine to print them out.

I was just researching the return journey London to Stansted and found you get a discount of £6 if you book via Ryanair's website £19.50 instead of £26 return

The odd time that I have traveled on the coach from Stansted, I have found that it is quicker to get off at the stop at Golders Green and then use the underground as there is often congestion between Golders Green and Victoria.

Looks good - though it's a saving of £4.50 given the return is £24. Can anyone report any problems using this? I've gone through the small print and can't see anything relating to having to have a Ryanair ticket to validate this (and I won't have when I fly in a month).

    Cheers!

If you are travelling on the train off-peak during the week or at the weekend, it is cheaper to buy tickets with a starting point of Audley End not Stansted Airport, as all tickets starting at Stansted Airport are now 'peak' (if you are travelling London to Stansted there are still off-peak tickets, so this is just to rip off visitors to the UK).

Audley End is one station further north than Stansted Airport, and provided that you are travelling on a normal single or return (not an Advance or Saver) as travelling via Stansted Airport is a permitted route to London, then you can join the train 'late' at Stansted Airport or finish your journey early there.

This depends on your ticket type - I believe that with day returns or open returns you can do this, but NOT with saver returns.

Hedonic - the open return ticket _is_ £26, but there is a £2 per person online discount.

If you are going out to meet them, there is a day return to Stansted for £17.80.

Finally, I am not at all sure whether Audley End to Liverpool Street via Stansted Airport is a valid route - Altarf can you confirm that you have undertaken the mileage analysis/fares comparison/routing point analysis, or were you just guessing?
