It's worth trying to delete cookies/temp Internet files from your browser. I know it sound silly but i had similar problem (not with Ryanair) & by doing above i managed to complete the on-line transaction. Let us know if above does not help!

Thanks so much for your advice i deleted cookies/files and tried again and worked straight away with maestro:j and i got a better deal as they have a sale on so free flights just paid taxes/fees :T

    Glade all is OK now.
  • i got the same i booked got card declined used another card said pending so waited.
there saying that the booking was declined but can not explain why the other card was pending:mad:
  • i had the same problem last night. i tried to cards, visa and visa electron and it constantly failed. a few times the ryanair website told me a double booking had been made and that i should wait for the email or try again an hour later.

when trying again i got that screen with the reservation number but it also said payment 1 'declined', payment 2 'pending' and that the reservation would only be confirmed once i get my itinerary e-mail.

obviously the next morning i had no email from them and i called ryanair. they said the booking had not been completed due to my card being rejected so i tried booking again.

the same problem came up, first, a message that the payment cannot be completed at this time yaddayadda, and then when i pushed the 'return and try again' button and payed again my payment was declinded AGAIN.

so i called my bank an they told me the error message had been that the card is expired, which it isn't!

so i tried again and indeed.. the first error message still came up, but while trying again after pressing that 'return' button, i saw that some information had been reset, like the card type, the expiry date, and my billing adress' country.

i had noticed the card type and country' changing before but not the card's expiry date, so that one was reset to 01. 2008 or something which made ryanair decline my payment.

i guess the best thing to do is calling your bank since they can tell you what the error exactly was, and ryanair also, just to make sure a double booking hasn't been made.

i just hope i won't be charged for all the other times i tried and failed :-s

cheers! and maybe i'll see you all on some flight :)

Not sure if this is the best place for my comments but I have another related example of one of their booking scams

This is a warning so that nobody else falls for this cheap and nasty trick which involves buying Ryanair tickets in a 'foreign' currency.

I am English but based in France. Earlier this year I needed to book a ticket from France to the UK. I tried to book my flight using my French credit card but was unable to do this and am unsure why, although I suspect the Ryanair system detected I was a UK client (technically this is very easy to do). I have a UK credit card (Nationwide) which normally gives me a very good exchange rate with no commission and I frequently use this card in France. I bought my tickets using this card but was totally disgusted when I got my statement as I had been charged an exchange rate premium of about 12%. I have made a few enquiries although Visa were not very helpful.

However it appears that Visa clients (such as Ryanair) can opt-out of the standard Visa package and can set their own exchange rate which funnily enough seemed to be a lot lower than the standard rate.(If the Pound is strong then using my UK card to buy French items is normally very cost efficient).

Thus I guess the moral is

do not buy a Ryanair ticket that is subject to foreign currency conversion.

or even better completely avoid using this company - I find flying with this outfit such an unpleasant experience I would pay £20-£30 extra just to have a pleasant flight with a customer-focused rather than a money-grabbing competitor
