Spending Diary of a Compulsive Eater

Thank you. I don't think I'm a good candidate for hypnotherapy because I find it very hard to relax at the best of times and think it would be nigh on impossible with someone else in the room! :rotfl: I saw a cognitive therapist once years ago and she tried to get me to close my eyes and relax while she counted to ten, she got to about three and I burst into tears. Don't know why but I just couldn't do it lol!
Anyway, today I have not been to the shop so have not spent any money yay! :j I had one of my lovely friends come to visit this morning so a few choccy bics have been eaten (she brought a packet) but I don't have any other munch in the house.
Got a bit drunk last night with my brother and his girlfriend (who happens to be one of my oldest friends from school). Was a great night and seeing them always picks me up."The path of my life is strewn with cowpats from the Devil's own satanic herd!" Blackadder0 -

Hi Lily,
how has your day been today? A good one, I hope:D
Hi! Yesterday was a good day thanks! I had a Tesco delivery and managed to not order any unecessary food (although I did go to Sainsbury's later with my mum and ended up with some stuff I shouldn't have). I haven't got the receipt unfortunately so I can't update properly but I spent about £14 on stuff I didn't need but not all of it was binge food.
I did manage to resist spending about £30 on DVDs from Amazon though!
I bought a book called Overcoming Overeating by Jane Hirschmann and Carol Munter and I've just started reading it - I've heard good reviews of it so I'm hoping it might help me stop my compulsive eating. It's all to do with 'mouth hunger' and 'stomach hunger' and recognising the difference between the two. Sound simple but to someone like me, it's very hard to know when I am full.
Got an eczema flare up todayso feeling a bit tetchy. I've got to go to work this morning (I work every weekend as a cleaner) when I'd really rather no-one saw me but hey, gotta earn money!

Hya there. Just like to say well done for your awareness of the problem. I believe having an awareness is a fantastic start to tackling this problem.
Thank you for this thread because it struck such a chord with me.Am going to be 40 thuis year and have decided to tackle my overeating and bingeing. Mind you have been doing this since I was 9 so will be a long old haul. The other difficulty is that one just can't give up food for the rest of one's life.
It is such a secret problem so congratulations for your honesty and getting your OH on board.
Thank you so much.
Looking foward to connecting with others in the same situation and learning any techniques used.
Went to LIDL lst nite ans was so tempted to but binge food but imagined myself to be someone who does not binge so didn't buy it. Said to myself I would have done this in the past but not now. Know that this is not always possible because it is such an unconscious reaction that you can find yourself halfway through a family pack of chocolate witout knowing it.
Take care everyone and keep nuturing yourselves. we are all worth it.0
